Qualifications and Experience
I am very fortunate to have been able to train at Morehouse School of Medicine. I was trained to integrate the biological, psychodynamic and socio-cultural models in the effective treatment of patients we see. I also have had the privilege of treating Veterans as a staff psychiatrist in an integrated healthcare model at the Tuscaloosa VA medical center in Alabama and as a staff psychiatrist at the Connecticut VA Healthcare system. I also provided telemental health care to Veterans to enhance access to care and reduce barriers to care.I am also fortunate to have completed an advanced training in Psychosocial Rehabilitation at Yale/Connecticut VA Healthcare System and served as a clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at Yale. I have gained guiding philosophies and concepts in recovery-focused care utilizing SAMHSA’s guiding principles: recovery occurs through many pathways; emerging from hope, is person-driven, is holistic, is culturally-based, is strengthened through relationships and social networks, addresses trauma and most importantly is based on respect. Through my career, I provided care to a diverse special and minority populations including homeless populations, patients suffering from addictions, geriatric populations and LGBTQ populations. I think the experiences I gained over the years provided me with an enhanced clinical acumen and an impressive breadth of awareness and experience in understanding the complexities of mental and behavioral health.

Deina was great. She was empathetic and came up with several solutions once she diagnosed me. The office staff is very efficient and very helpful. I would recommend this place to my family & friends.
Very sweet lady. She listened to my issues and helped me understand the medication I am on. Office is nice and was easy to get to off the red line. Visit didn't feel rushed or anything which I appreciate.
