I've been to two dermatologists in my life and Dr. Khuu was way better than the other one. He took time to explain the treatment options.

Dr Khuu is an incredible person and physician. He's extremely personable and professional. As a younger more progressive physician, he is always on top of the latest technology which is important to me as I am a medical professional and see many physicians stuck in their ways. Dr Khuu researchers, invests in, and stays on the front edge of his area of expertise and I recommend all of my friends, family, and colleagues. A+ after a long history with his care.

He is extremely impersonal. The appointment lasted for hardly ten minutes and the doctor was pitching different expensive procedures instead of answering my questions. Was really dismissive.

Left my first review on Yelp so copying it here. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before, because my experience is quite common. "Booked through ZocDoc. Arrived 15 minutes before my appointment, but was left waiting for 30 minutes after I had completed all of the forms. Was charged six times more than I was supposed to be. When I received my statement from my insurance company I found this out and contacted them via email, asking for a refund, I did not receive a reply to my email. I contacted them via the phone, and they eventually agreed to send me a refund via check. The doctor told me that everything would be covered by my insurance, but today I received another substantial bill for many from a lab in San Francisco. This company is not trustworthy, and uses tactics that are unethical. Avoid them.

I hate to leave a negative review because Dr. Khuu seems really nice and I understand he is trying to do his best. His way of doing things just happens to be incompatible with a patient like me. So I will start off with the good. Dr. Khuu is very fast and efficient, you won't have to wait and your appointment won't take long - so if that's your main criteria, this is a great office for you to go to! I'm looking for a lot more individual attention and I am budget-conscious. So for me, this wasn't the right doctor. When it was time for my appointment, an assistant, Patrick, escorted me back to an examination room (I hope that's the right terminology). Patrick asked me a few things like what medicine's I'm on, what I'd like to talk to the doctor about. Patrick was very nice and extremely professional. For me though, I was only prepared to subject myself to the humiliation of explaining my skin problems to a doctor. Not also an assistant. Especially not one that looked possibly my age or younger and that I might bump into in a social setting (sorry Patrick! nothing personal). So I didn't actually tell him what I'd really come for. When Dr Khuu came into the examination room a few minutes later, Patrick was also with him. So I still didn't explain why I had come. It was just too embarrassing. Maybe if I'd known ahead of time there was going to be an assistant, I could have handled it, but probably not. So I just said I was there for acne (which I was also there for, but it wasn't the main reason.) Dr Khuu was sitting across the room the whole time. He didn't even look at my skin. I mean not up close at least. That doesn't feel very reassuring to me. I obviously do not know anything about medicine or dermatology, I do not have a medical degree. So maybe this is extremely foolish to say. But I would feel so much better if he had looked closely at my skin. Especially with a light or a magnifying glass. Something to show me that he's being as thorough as possible. Because I, as a patient, have no way of knowing if he really looked at my skin or not. Dr Khuu gave me some prescriptions...one was a topical cream that contained benzoyl peroxide. I used a cream containing benzoyl peroxide once years ago and it literally burned my skin. Like a painful chemical burn. Not a third degree burn or anything, but definitely a burn. So I was really surprised that he didn't ask me whether I had ever used a benzoyl peroxide product before. I also don't think it came up that I've had acne since I was 13. These seem like important things to me, that just got completely glossed over. I totally appreciate that Dr. Khuu is trying to help as many people as he possibly can, but this outlook just wasn't the right fit for me. I can't stress that enough in this review. I am not saying he is a bad doctor, I'm just saying he's not right for a certain kind of patient. When I went to the pharmacy a little while later to pick up the prescriptions, my total came up to way more than I expected or have ever paid for any medication. No wonder no one else prescribes these creams (as he had told me). He said they were better than what I was currently using, but didn't mention the HUGE price differential. (Looking back, I probably should have put two and two together--the medications are better, but no one else prescribes them--seems so obvious in retrospect). I pay next to nothing for what I use now. For enough medication to last me several months. I think if I had known the price before walking up to pay, I would have reacted differently, but being totally caught off guard, I decided not to get the medication (it's just acne after all, not exactly a health threat) and cancel my next appointment.

The doctor seems nice, but I felt a little rushed. I had eczema all over my body, and wasn't given much information about my condition and what to do (like avoid certain foods, prolonged sun, etc). Although, he is putting me on a rigorous treatment for my eczema. I did not like how I went to CVS to pickup my medicine only to find out that the doctor never sent anything. I called and left a voicemail, but thank goodness the office clerk responded back to me within 15 minutes. I eventually got my medicine after 20 minutes. Overall, I'd recommend this place.

They are selling their own brand of cosmetic products, and the doctor wants you to buy them. They are priced a lot than a similar product at any store. Will never see this doctor again, do not recommend.

In person he's a nice guy but he took a culture and said he would hold onto it; if the alement didn't clear up in a short time I would let home know and he could send it in. He sent it in right away to an out of network lab and did not communicate any results. I got the bill from the lab, he denied saying that he would hold onto it. Still won't give me the results and just tells me that it's standard practice and I have to pay the lab.

Dr. Duke Khuu was extremely friendly and also very thorough with my skin exam. He immediately recognized the problem and explained it to me in simple terms. He suggested a couple of different options for treatment and did not force me into any of them. The rest of the staff in the office was also very friendly and helpful.

I felt like I was in an episode of House. I mostly worked with the PA, but she was really nice and the doctor's involvement was minimal, but enough to make me feel comfortable. Overall, I was only really disappointed that everything seemed a little rushed, but I understand that patients were piling up in the waiting room so it might have just been that. Overall, I would come to this dermatologist again because he seems to know what he's doing and the staff seems just as knowledgeable.
