Dr. Shin and his assistant were personable and very thorough. It was wonderful to have my options explained and to be provided with very clear next steps and the underlying reasons for each.
I found Dr. Shin based on my location and visited his clinic for my hip pain a few weeks ago. I was seen quickly by an assistant and then Dr. Shin himself after taking a few x-rays of my hip in the clinic which I thought was helpful. He quickly diagnosed me and listened to my needs and we came up with a plan for my lifestyle and hip. He was personable and I felt he truly listened to my needs and addressed my pain. Would highly recommend!
Very professional, knowledgeable, and provided a pleasant office experience.
Intelligent. Compassionate. Honest. I believe these are the qualities that distinguishes Dr. Shin from other doctors I have met all over the bay area. I have been dealing with hip pain for the past few years and almost lost hope in returning back to running and football activities. It was until I saw Dr. Shin who accurately diagnosed me and gave me a clear explanation of my condition with a subsequent treatment plan I was comfortable following. It is Dr. Shin's top-notch expertise and excellent staff members that made me feel taken care of. Highly recommend!
Very efficient, professional and helpful!
My experience with DR Shin was excellent!! Very friendly staff as well
The x-ray technician made inappropriate comments about my ethnicity and Edward Shin was only concerned about surgery and an MRI. He did nothing to address my immediate pain or provide any guidance about how to take care of my injury until the MRI. He talked with me for less than 2 minutes and is clearly focused on earning revenue through surgery rather than sound medical advice. I found him to be unprofessional and unfeeling.
Excellent surgeon! Happy to have chosen him. He is very down to earth, caring, and experienced!
Dr Shin was knowledgeable and quick. My appointment started 35 min late and I spent ~10 min with the doctor overall and he answered my questions, but I did feel properly treated and I would go back again if necessary.
Will only go to Dr. Shin for any Ortho needs, and have referred several friends who also reported a great experience. Encouraged non-surgical fix to my Grade 3 MCL strain/Grade 1 ACL strain. Then did the same for a Grade 2 hamstring tear a year later. Both injuries recovered fully and on schedule.
Excellent office and very knowledgeable and helpful stuff!
He was very knowledgable, gave me a speedy diagnosis with examples, and even provided follow up information if the issue persisted plus options for physical therapy
Doctor was very thorough with me and explained diagnosis treatment options and next steps
It was okay. He was a little rushed and didnt spend a lot of time with me on follow up. seemed like he just wanted to get me in and out of the office
It was fast and straight foward
Dr. Shin and hi staff were very thorough and helpful with giving me good care and explaining next steps to get me back to health
Great visit, short and to the point.
Professional and respectful of my situation, took the time to explain options and engage me in the decision making process. Appreciate his effort to make sure I understood next steps. Great job.
Excellent doctor and staff! Was seen before my scheduled appointment. No matter how minor my questions were, Dr. Shin would answered all of them.
He seemed very professional, pleasant, and knowledgable.
Very professional, great service and knowledge.
Personable and helpful!
Dr. Shin is great orthopedic doctor. Our son has seen him several times now with baseball injuries and we would highly recommend him to anyone with sports injuries.
Honest, empathetic and knowledgeable.
Making the appointment was super easy through Zocdoc and appointments on fairly short notice (3 working days or so) were available. Office was efficient and staff was very nice. Dr. Shin himself was kind, helpful, forthcoming and efficient. Happy to call myself a new patient.
Dr Shin was very friendly and patient. He helped me understand the trade-offs of getting surgery and actually recommended me continuing with PT and not getting surgery.
Dr. Shin is taking great care of my 9 year old son. Since this is for pediatric care, Dr. Shin is taking extra precautions for a healthy and long-term recovery. We were hesitant at first since we preferred pediatric orthopedics, but he and Dr. Chen came with a great referral and we could not be happier. Our son is definitely in great hands.
I felt confident that I was in experienced hands. Dr. Shin's recommendations were very easy to understand. I did not feel rushed.
He's matter of fact and wants to do the best /give care so you get better.
Dr. Shin is an awesome surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner. He is extremely patient and caring. Highly recommended.
Met first with the doctor's PA, then with the doctor. Both were welcoming, professional and friendly. Both listened carefully to me and explained everything to my satisfaction without condescending. The office staff were friendly despite being very busy. I feel I'm in good hands.
Very good and no delays.
It was great. I was running late and they said no problem. Very accommodating.
Friendly and patient!
Dr. Shin is extremely knowledgeable about the hip and I felt very confident in everything he had to say. I have been a competitive runner for the past 12 years and feel that I know my body very well. I have had an issue with my left hip extending into my left IT band for the past year and a half and have seen multiple doctors, none of which understood what was going on until Dr. Shin. He explains everything in a way that helps the patient understand what is going on. I felt very heard and he seemed to look deeper into the issue than the other doctors to really figure out what is going on. Highly recommend for athletes with hip problems!
Very professional and thorough explaining everything
Very efficient and was able to get treated immediately.
Wonderful as always!
What a great doctor and staff! And not only because the good news they gave me.
I arrived early and was seen early, in fact I was out the door before my scheduled appointment. He was open, honest, and answered all of my questions. He provided all my options and helped me weigh them to make the best decision for me. I heartily recommend him.
Dr Shin was wonderful and he explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. The only thing that was frustrating was his assistant seemed to be rushing me talking so fast i had to ask him to repeat himself, That made me nervous. Otherwise a lovely staff. Highly reccomend
This was one of the best experiences I've had in a doctor's office. Great communication, presence, knowledge, and thoughtfulness from the doctor and staff.
Far superior to any dentist or doctor's office visit in the last few years. Office staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Dr Shin actually spent a fair amount of time meeting with me (also rare these days).
Really appreciated Dr. Shin's practical, professional manner, his attentiveness and flexibility in listening to my personal circumstances to come up with a reasonable plan of action for recovery. Highly recommend.
It was great! He was super helpful and nice.
Good balanced advice
Dr. seemed to be knowledgable but was overly concerned with rushing on to his next appointment. During my 20 minutes of actual treatment, I actually saw the doctor face to face all of 7 minutes. He didn't have time for my questions and he actuallly put his hand on my back to gently force me out of the room when he decided we were done. I don't know if it had anything to do with my injury being minor and mostly healed, but for the money I paid to see him, I'd expect a calmer, more attentive experience.
He and his staff alway do a great job.
Loved Dr. Chen. Kind, efficient and awesome.
Dr. Shin was very pleasant and made me feel very comfortable about the planned course of action.
I went to Edward twice - once for a check on my flexor tendon (climbing) and once for my knee. Overall he was very knowledgeable and was able to quickly diagnose that my knee was not severely injured. For my first visit I was a little bit bummed that I ended up going through with an MRI that yielded no benefits as I later learned my injury was going to be as healed as it was going to get given it was a year after I first injured it. To be fair, the hand area wasn't his specialty. If you got any knee/leg injuries I highly recommend him.
I was very happy with my visit. I'm a runner and have had knee problems in the past - wanted to check in on a new issue. Dr. Shin diagnosed me and explained the problem clearly
Dr. Shin's assessment was quick and professional, and his assistants did a great job in working to expedite a follow-on procedure for me.
Dr. Shin and his staff are as warming as a familiar hug right after... Well, most likely your accident. Well recommended.
Very professional and warm. Easy to talk to. Takes his time.
Okayish. Immediately went to surgery options, didn't feel like I could talk with him and build up trust. Might be a good at what he does, but I didn't click with him.
After a brief wait in the waiting room (10-15 mins, not terrible), I was called in. The PA asked a few questions. Then Dr. Shin came in. Before he even examined me, he goes straight to "we should talk about surgery." I understand that he is a surgeon and will be making more money the more surgeries he performs, but jeez doc, at least shake my hand first. Verdict was that I need an MRI and a follow up. My insurance covers 80% of MRI, therefore I'm left with 20% of MRI cost. Obviously I want to shop around and find the best price. The office staff took 4 days to get me the proper information of what kind of MRI I need, and has been absolutely ZERO help with selecting an imaging center to get a decent rate with my insurance. Terrible customer service, and I will absolutely not be returning here.
The problem I have is with the office. I've had to actually chase down MRI faxed results w/ the imaging company even though they had previously faxed it 2x on the day of my appointment. Dr. Shin's office failed to find said report. Furthermore, a CD of the MRI should have been burned on my behalf. Now I've got to request it and visit the imaging company once more so that the follow up appt w/ Shin will not be in vain. All of this should have been done by Dr. Shin's office staff and should not be relied on by myself.
Dr. Shin is a rare find; a doctor who doesn't make you feel rushed and genuinely cares about his patients.
I would have liked a bit more time talking with the doctor, so I could better understand the injury that he suspects. I guess doctors in the States are like that though, come in 3-4 quick questions and a set of mobility checks and the rest is handled by an assistant. If he got the diagnosis and treatment plan right though, I would definitely come back in the future. Very professional, yet likeble attitude. Quick and to the point. Overall good visit.
Very friendly, kind of casual office. Dr. Shin and his assistants and techs were all quite professional and seemed very concerned with patient's well-being.
I was really impressed. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. They helped me with a last second appointment and there was still little to no waiting. Dr Shin was very friendly and knowledgeable. He explained the likely source of my hip pain and gave me several options on how to treat it going forward. He was patient and made sure to answer any questions I had. Highly recommended.
Appointment taken right on time. Great visit, thank you. Would recommend for sure and would visit again, although hopefully not for awhile :)
Thoughtful, intelligent and recommended physical therapy before we explore surgery.
Dr Shen was professional and very thorough. I was glad I saw him for my diagnosis.
Super helpful and answered all my questions. Highly recommend!
Dr Shin was awesome. Very nice and sincere and thoroughly talked with me about my options for my knee pain. Highly recommend!!
Very knowledgeable and personable. Also liked his staff.
He was very patient and explained all the possibilities with achilles tendonitis. I would highly recommened.
I only had one appointment with Dr. Shin but I was able to make a same-day appointment, arrived early and was seen early, and got what I felt was sound medical advice. I had a fairly serious shoulder injury, but based on his review of the imagery and our discussion, he felt pretty firmly that surgery may not be my best option, and I will be starting PT to rehabilitate. If I do eventually decide to get surgery, Dr. Shin will definitely be on my short list.
Dr. Shin was very pleasant and through. He explained his examination and what he was finding during his exam. He discussed possible diagnosis and made the appropriate referrals for follow-up tests. In addition the staff at Dr. Shin's office was very professional and nice. We felt very well cared for during our visit. I would recommend Dr. Shin.
Shin is great.. Explains things very well and very personable.
A good doctor, took time to explain my condition and surgery and what to expect from the operation. But most of my followups were pretty quick and lasted less than a few minutes, mostly because I was recovering well I suppose, but did make me feel a bit rushed.
Vdery good....easy, fast and professional
He's great! I like that they get the exams right away, so they will have all the tools needed to give a good diagnostic.
Nice guy and quick with solutions.
It was fine, it probably wasn't enough of a visit for me to decide if I will continue to use him in the future. He seemed a bit rote, could have been more personal, or offered suggestions on what I could do to relieve my pain (other than meds). I was not impressed with how the office didn't send the MRI center my referral. I now have to wait almost a week before I get my MRI because the office waited so long to send my information. I am in serious pain and they need to regard their patient's needs highly so I can relieve this pain. I did not feel like they cared so much about how much pain I was in.
Good initial appointment. Efficient.
Very professional service by Dr. Shin and assistants.
Very satisfied.. he was genuinely interested with my health issue, and gave me concrete information as to what I needed to do.
As an intensive care nurse , I would probably be more critical. Dr. Shin was very professional, direct and kind. Answered all my questions. Everyone in the office was lovely, very attentive.
Young, but smart. Listens to you before jumping to conclusion. I made my appointment day-of and completed the paperwork online. Only sat in the waiting room for about 3 minutes.
Being a family involved with sports naturally injuries happen. I think I just found my new go to doc! Thanks Dr. Shin!
Excellent as usual
First of all, for some reason my appointment made with ZocDoc was not showing in the doctor's office. But the staff there was so nice to help me to consult the doctor. Dr. Shin and his assistant Jonathan was great and very helpful. Though it took only few minutes for then to analyze my case, was able to give me good explanation. I felt much better to see the way everyone helped me there.
My appointment was delayed, but Dr Shin was helping other patient, he was placing a cast. So, I don't think is fair to score the delay.
Excelente! Thorough, smart and compassionate!
Dr Shin is excellent! highly recommend! He was able to diagnose and treat pain in my shoulder that had been bothering me for years.
Excellent top to bottom. Doctor was on time, office staff was friendly, they had all my information from ZocDoc. Dr. Shin was compassionate, thorough and communicative. Really couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Great doctor. Very professional, calm demeanor and in a very comfortable way personable, too.
Dr. Shinn actually called me , twice to inquire about my hip pain. Highly recommend!!
Good-natured, well-informed, and down to earth doctor.
first visit was great, i was able to get in the same day. dr. shin was very knowledgeable and personable.
Dr. Shin is outstanding. He's knowledgeable, comforting, and a highly skilled surgeon.
Dr. Shin knows his stuff well.
very good MD !!
AMAZING service! I'd never been to a specialist before and the entire staff was very thorough and friendly. I would highly recommend Dr. Shin to anyone and everyone.
Follow up good. thoughtful
Great, thorough and detailed. Very kind staff.
If you are sporty, or just really active, and need serious orthopedic care, he should be on your short list. Everything about working with Dr. Shin was efficient, considerate, and on point. Appointments were a little briefer than I would have liked (I'm not very smart about some things and need to be told what I don't know), so arrive with your questions ready and he will answer them. All in all, he's confident, and was confident of my ability to recover from a pretty serious injury. He supported me through the worst of it, and took care of what i needed at work as well. All in all, the bone break was awful but the referral to Dr. Shin and his team was extremely fortunate.
Very nice doctor and staff. Very professional, friendly and quick. A++
excellent care , professional staff
Very professional and helpful with questions and concerns.
Very knowledgable, sympathetic and patient.
I was trying to visit a specialist physician for my shoulder injury last week, but I couldn't get an appointment anywhere in the city. All open appointments were weeks out, but Dr. Shin was able to squeeze me in. I can say he was one of the more thorough and detail oriented doctors I have visited in the area. You can tell he actually cares and is very knowledgeable. I think I found my new orthopedic doctor.
I visited Dr. Shin's office while I was visiting SF for two weeks to look at a shoulder injury as I wanted to make sure it was properly handled before I went off on some travel. Dr. Shin was very good at hearing my concerns and providing proper advice for taking care of the injury.
Out of all the physicians I have seen, I would rank Dr. Shin as top of the class. I have had a fair share of injuries from playing sports (ACL, MCL, Fractured Ankle, Torn ligaments, etc), and I have seen a handful of Orthopedic Physicians in the Bay Area, so I know the good from the bad. Dr. Shin is definitely a quality physician. In this SF Area, 90% of the time it takes weeks to just get an appointment, but Dr. Shin was open to giving me an appointment ASAP. During the visits, you can tell he is not trying to rush you out of his office or trying to sell you something. He gives you all your options in detail, he is very thorough & knowledgeable, and he takes extra steps to ensure you are okay. For example, he personally calls you on weekends to see how you are progressing and to see if everything is okay. I have never received this kind of treatment/care from any of my doctors. Moreover, just by the detailed information you receive from him, you can tell you are receiving contemporary advice Vs. old/outdated tips. All in all, Dr. Shin is worth your time, and he actually cares.
Very easy to talk to and very caring.
Dr. Shin has been great through the entire process, from explaining what was happening to me, to ordering tests, and following up.
Smart. Nice, On Time.
Very nice, well informed, and explained things in detail.
Prior to going to this appointment, my main concern was that the only solution that would be suggested for my shoulder trouble would be surgery. Couldn't have been less of an issue with Dr. Shin. He did a thorough range of motion exam and provided non-surgical solutions for my issue. He was knowledgeable, had excellent bedside manner, and seemed like a good guy.
