Verified Patient Reviews
I'm a repeat patient and have always had a terrific experience. Very patient, listens well, clear in his explanations, is conservative in treatment recommendations and has always made the right call. Highly recommended.
Dr. Ackerman is attentive and professional. I recommend him highly to anyone who needs a sports doctor or orthopedic surgeon.
Very professional and to the poain’t!
Dr Ackerman and the X ray staff very fast and professional!
I saw the doctor after my procedure on my knee. As always he is very professional, very attentive to my concerns. He takes his time and answers every question I ask. I had no issues after the procedure. I wish more doctors where like Dr. Ackerman.
Very professional. Takes the time to explain thoroughly. Weighs out all options for treatment and care, before considering surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Ackerman and the great support staff at NY Orthopedics. From the time you walk in the office you feel you are in great hands, with your care their #1 priority.
My visit with Dr. Ackerman was awesome. The wait wasn't too long and I was in getting a quick in-office x-ray within 20 minutes of my appointment time. Immediately after, Dr. Ackerman took a look at me and figured out my issue. He thoroughly explained to me what the problem was, showing me on a model he had, and advised all the possible treatment options, along with the true likelihood of needing one vs. another. I appreciate that he suggested a conservative approach to start with and asked that I check in again in several weeks if I still have pain. He was also a pleasure to talk to. He seemed down-to-earth, approachable, and willing to answer my questions. I felt that he really understood where I was coming from and could relate to what I was saying and describing. I'd highly recommend him to anyone needing to see an orthopedist.
He is an excellent doctor, He answers all of your questions and is extremely patient. JG
I met Dr Ackerman once before as Dr Ackerman operated on my wife's knee which was a perfect success and painless after surgery. He is a pleasure and breath of fresh air to speak with and is quite thorough. I was told 2-1/2 years ago I needed meniscus surgery by another dr and I held off as pain subsided. Dr A agreed that surgery wasn't necessary at this point. He is doing a series of 3 injections at most for the time being, surgery being a last resort. My wife and I can not speak highly enough of him. Strongly recommend Dr A ... Thank you Dr Ackerman ....
Dr ACKERMAN was professional and pragmatic. Appeared to be focused on prescribing the right care instead of the typical assembly line approach. Unlike most orthopédists, did not jump to surgery or toxic pain shots as a default option.
Very helpful, open, knowledgefull and comfortable environment was created from the moment I walked into the moment I walked out. Dr Ackerman was excellent told me what I had and what options i had nothing was forced on.
Dr. Ackerman was excellent with my son. He explained everything thoroughly.

Very thorough. Explained everything and made you feel comfortable and not rushed.
Dr. Ackerman was friendly, thoughtful, and very knowledgeable. I did not feel rushed at all and he took the time to show me my shoulder injury using shoulder models as well as sketching out the exact injury on paper. I strongly recommend anyone visit him.

Professional and thorough
I have been to many orthopedics for my long history of knee issues, Dr. Ackerman took his time to explain all my options and his best treatment plan, he never once forced anything upon me, just advised me, i would recommend him to anyone.
Great knowledgeable low keyed doctor. Took his time to examine me and address my concerns. Very impressed with the whole setup. I recommend him wholeheartedly and without reservation.
I went to him over the summer and was so pleasantly suprised. He was professional, friendly and unlike most doctors took the time to explain everything to me. He is the BEST!
Efficiency, courtesy, friendly and most of all sincere people skills in communication and results. Very satisfied. Every individual displayed concern, (receptionist, etc.)
What a wreck I am! I went to see Dr Ackerman because I had a lot of instability-- but no pain-- in my knees as a result of oesteo arthritis, and after two shots of effleuxal I am in constant pain and severely limited in my ability to walk. And he never once mentioned that I was taking any sort of risk whatsoever by accepting the shot. Immediately, even as he was administering the shot in my right knee, I felt a sharp pain and told him so. That first night, I was up to all hours in pain. I can no longer sleep through the night without waking up, writhing in pain. Dr. Ackerman prescribed meloxicam, which has 40 dangerous side effects, but which I have taken off and on in various dosages depending on the acuteness of the pain. Sometimes I cannot walk a block, other times I can walk four and five blocks, but my life has been severely curtailed by the shot--most of the time I am house bound because I cannot walk and I am in agony. Dr Ackerman doesn't believe me, says the shot is not responsible for the pain, and without even doing any further exploratory work-- which is what I requested-- asked if I wanted an operation, He is insistent that the shot didn't cause the pain and it is caused only by osteo-arthritis, which prior to coming to Dr Ackerman was diagnosed only mid to moderate. He is not listening to me, doesn't acknowledge his responsibility for causing the pain, and is saying that because this never happened to another patient of his, it is not happening to me now. I am disgusted and will do whatever I can to spread the word my story. BEWARE!
excellent doctor fast appointments and followups
Everyone was pleasant and very knowledgable. Spent plenty of time with my son and I. Left satisfied.
I wa pleased with the doctor. He explained what needs to be done for the problem with my knee and gave me different choices for treatment. He is very gentle and considerate. His staff are very nice and helpful. I have a positive view overall and will go back for more treatment and consultations.
The doctor gave an easy to understand verbal explanation that included the use of an anatomical model showing where my problems were and what the courses of treatment would be as well as the possible outcomes.
Carrying, attentive, willing to offer help. Facility doesn't have the MRI so its a bit of hassle to find one around. I wasn't able to actually get one from the place the office referred me too.
Dr. Ackerman was very thorough and explained everything very well. I appreciated that he gave all possible diagnoses and wasn't in a rush to recommend surgery. I was very satisfied with my first appointment with him.
X Ray taken immediately diagnosis rigt on
I thought Dr. Ackerman was professional, yet friendly. He was able to answer all of my concerns in a way that both my wife and I understood. It was our first visit to him, and I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend!
Dr. Ackerman was great - nice bedside manner and not in a rush to move on to the next patient or do anything other than begin with conservative treatment - no rush to cut.
Doctor was willing to go over MRI results and diagnosis of other Drs. gave me great advice of what next I should do even though it didn't include seeing him! He was respectful and direct and spoke with confidence. For a surgeon he has amazing bedside manner and listened to me.
Great! So far so good! I had knee surgery for a torn meniscus and was walking the same day! 2 weeks later and I've already started exercising again. Swelling is way down and I am very happy I did the surgery. I suffered 6-8 months with swelling and pain. I highly recommend him. We've made him our family orthopedic cause he's not just a great doctor but really nice bedside manners.
Everything you want in a Doctor and more. .Truly professional, precise. .explained everything in layman's terms so you understand. Listens and answers all your questions..never rushed..
The only reason for the slight wait was because he was reviewing my MRI personally, not just going by what another doctors review was. He wanted to be prepared before he saw me, what more could you ask from the Doctor that going to do surgery on you. He is completely on top of his game. Explained everything to me in detail, very professional and reassuring. Sorry I didn't go to him first.
Doctor Ackerman is personable, thorough and very professional. Felt completely comfortable with him. Will definitely recommend him.
I booked an appointment to see Doctor Ackerman at his Flushing, Queens office on 11/25/15; his Westbury office hours were booked out. I had included a message when I booked my appointment to please advise me if there were any cancellations at his Westbury office, since I live in Westbury. So when I received a call on 11/24/15 that there was an available appointment for 10:30 AM at his Westbury office that morning, I was very happy. Doctor Ackerman's staff were extremely courteous and professional to work with. There was paperwork to complete which was to be expected as my visit was Workers Compensation related and took a little time. Doctor Ackerman is a very courteous, friendly professional in all manners. He explained what the probable cause of pain I was experiencing from my injury, as x-rays confirmed there were no fractures. He also explained my injured area would eventually heal over time with rest and minimal physical activity, no surgery or other treatment was necessary. He provided a note for me to return to work on 11/30/15 with light duty. Overall, extremely pleased with Doctor Ackerman and his staff; will certainly recommend NY Orthopedics.
Dr. Ackerman was extremely thorough in explaining my situation and the steps that needed to be taken to alleviate my problem. He was very attentive to my concerns.
Super clean office. .professional and courteous staff. .Dr Ackerman was excellent. .taking the time to explain what was wrong with me, his prescribed course of action to remedy my pain and follow up. .Highly recommend this Doctor
I went to see Dr. Ackerman today for a sprained knee and he was very helpful! The first thing he did was ask me what happened and he listened intently. He then examined my knee thoroughly and sent me for an x-ray (in his office). He looked at my x-rays and thoroughly explained to me what was happening with my knee as well as recommended treatment options. I hope I don't have to return to an ortho (because it usually means I hurt myself) but if I do - I'd go back to Dr. Ackerman in a heartbeat.
I went to see Dr Ackerman for a second opinion, he took the time to review my previous records, took time explaining his opinion and took the time explaining his plan of action to resolve my issues, I will definitely come back, and look forward to him being my new ortho!
My wife says very informative and thorough I agreed
