Dr. George Tun, MD

Psychiatrist

Professional statement

I focus on treating Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD), where standard treatments, such as medications or talk-therapy, may not be enough to alleviate suffering. I'm interested in new and emerging technologies and believe Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a treatment that may help patients relieve symptoms associated with depression and anxiety. I specialize in developing a comprehensive plan tailored specifically to a patient with their unique history, beliefs and body chemistry. I am interested in the interface between psychology and neurology and finding an integrated approach to help patients with their depression. I support patients to maintain recovery over time. Our practice is focused on depression and is Northern California's leading provider of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a highly effective, FDA-cleared, non-invasive therapy for patients who haven't responded to antidepressants and other treatments. We accept most major insurance plans. We have locations throughout Northern California.

Very understanding and calming. Fairly conservative and honest about medication, which was refreshing. I felt like he really took the time to understand my concerns.

Dr. George is very competent and highly knowledgeable. He listens and gives great feedback. It's one of the few doctors that thinks more about you then about meds. I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking to get better.

I have had ADD since I was a kid and have taken Adderall on and off for a while now. I moved to San Francisco a few years ago and hadn't found a Psychiatrist. The office visit was great, Dr. Tunis a good listener and seemed like everything would be smooth sailing. However, when my prescription was sent to the pharmacy they told me that they needed a prior authorization (a simple insurance thing). When I called two days later they told me that they'd been calling Dr. Tun's office multiple times a day with no response. They tried fax and phone. After countless phone calls, 2 weeks later they finally got in touch with the Pharmacy and sent over the form. This was a little frustrating, however, I just saw Dr. Tun a second time and this time it has been a month and I have no medication. On top of all that, they call me constantly to try and get me to pay a fee from a scheduling mix up on their part; i guess they're too busy to provide medical care but not too busy to try and get paid. AWFUL

He's a very honest, intelligent & caring Clinician. This is the first time I've seen a psychiatrist in over 20 years and I look forward to seeing him again. I feel he is interested in helping chart a path to treating& managing the root causes of mental illness. He is conservative & honest in regards to medication which is respectable. Dr Tun is very easy to have a conversation with & asks lots of questions seeming very engaged with me as a patient.
