Patient reviews for Dr. Ira Halperin
Super thorough and responsive.
Really likeable and straight forward doctor.
Very efficient, very thorough, my new primary care doctor, best I’ve seen in the city.
Efficient, thorough, kind. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Halperin.
Old school doctor who will take the time to sit down with you and talk to you before the diagnosis. Really nice guy. Would definitely go again. As a heads up the co-pays and other expenses are cash and check only.
He’s wonderful. Really the type of doctor you don’t meet anymore. I’m thrilled to have found him.
very professional and clearly knowledgeable doctor
Dr. Halperin is very thorough, thoughtful and pays good attention to detail. I'd recommend him as a PCP in the city as someone knowledgeable with a lot of experience. (And he has a great dry sense of humor, too)
Wait time was good and receptionist helpful. This is where positivity stops. I found the doctor to be somewhat arrogant, apathetic, and curt. My questions were answered with contempt and annoyance. I don’t understand why I was treated with such contempt as a patient suffering from an ailment. Equipment used also seemed superannuated. Ended up seeing another doctor who was much better and actually helped my condition improve. Would not recommend at all.
Dr Halperin is awesome!
Very professional, thorough and highly experienced.
He asked me a lot of the same questions which he could have gotten the answers to by looking at the form I filled out. In fact, he didn't let me finish filling out the form, so later when I was finishing filling it out after the appointment, I couldn't answer questions like "would you like to get tested for STDs" because if I put "yes" it was already too late anyway. I take specific medication and he hasn't even heard of it (whereas other doctors who don't even specialize in what I'm taking my medication for - such as gynecologists and dentists- know exactly what it is). He asked me if I'm currently in school, and about 5 minutes afterwards he had already forgotten that he had asked (and I had answered) and asked me again. Very quickly he told me he doesn't know what to do and basically told me to find another doctor. And I hate that I'm paying for this.
Dr. Halperin is caring and considerate. It was a great experience from start to finish.
He doesn't read the summary you provide when booking via ZocDoc, so I wasted a visit.
First time seeing a doctor since moving to NYC in 2015. Dr. Halperin's office and staff very nice. Went in for a routine physical. Dr. Halperin has a very friendly bedside manner. Overall a quick and easy experience.
Good listener; understands quickly; made me comfortable. He referred me to a specialist, but his office made a same -day appointment for me. Office staff very friendly. A very positive experience!
A wonderful experience. Staff was very friendly. He took his time to learn my history. Definitely recommend.
Such a pleasant experience. He made me feel very comfortable upon entering and the receptionist is super friendly. I’d recommend this doctor to anyone.
Dr. Halperin was comfortable to talk to, compassionate, fully attentive, took his time, was clear with his communication, and was kind. I would truly recommend him!
Dr. Halperin is a wonderful old school doc. You don't get this kind of comforting service many places anymore. I will most definitely be going back.
A fantastic doctor; personable, great rapport, humorous, and straight to the point. He listens, observes, and recommends. Just what I was looking for. Dr. Halperin also follows up with immediacy and action. A positive experience overall. Thank you Dr. Halperin.
Excellent, ask the right questions.
Dr. Halperin was great. Personable and professional. Came recommended by a trusted friend and didn't disappoint. Highly recommend!
Dr. Halperin is a skilled professional and made me feel at ease throughout my appointment.
I went to Dr. Halperin to look into a never ending cold that i had but he didn't really help except gave me some cough medicine. He did however go into a conversation about my sexuality and it sort of made me feel uncomfortable. Asking very dated questions about when I discovered I was gay and if I had a brother as that's generally what predetermines sexuality when I was there for a help with my cold, not a discussion on my sexuality.
It was a great experience he is a very nice person !
The best doctor out there! Polite, professional, efficient and beyond attentive. Highly recommended!!
Dr Halperin is great. He saw me literally as I walked into the office (10 minutes before my scheduled appointment), and had me out of there 15 minutes later. I have a huge issue with needles so he made sure to distract me while he drew blood.
Very good doctor
I'm relatively new to NYC and was looking for a primary care physician in my neighborhood. I read Dr, Halperin's strong reviews in Zocdoc but was not expecting anything out of the ordinary. However, this was definitely the best medical experience I've had in a long time. Many doctors are friendly but it seems that few these days are personable, Dr. Halperin is. He took the time to get to know me personally and medically. In fact, it may be silly but being a gay man I was a bit nervous discussing my sex life with an older, straight (I'm assuming) man, but once again, he made me feel comfortable on that topic. He is clearly a wealth of knowledge, loves what he does, and is not in it for the money. In this case old school is definitely a good thing.
Dr. Halperin's level of care can only come from someone who is truly interested in their patients and satisfied in their line of work. The Dr. spoke with me before my examination and then examined me throughly, even taking my blood, which assistants usually do. He called me a few days afterwards to review my physical. Excellent experience.
I am not exaggerating when I say that my visit with Dr. Halperin has totally changed my outlook on the medical profession. I always dread going to the doctor and often feel like they're in a rush to get me out of the door and don't make a real effort to listen to my issues. Not the case here. No computer, all handwritten. No rushing. He asked me a ton of questions about my life, was extremely personable and showed real empathy - not to mention clearly knows a ton about medicine. Thank you Dr. Halperin!
I was examined thoroughly and the doctor was very careful and polite. I will visit again for follow up.
Really great bedside manner. Spent time learning about my background and asking detailed medical questions. He expressed distrust of the pharma industry and didn't just prescribe pills to deal with my issue, which is a huge plus for me.
Super condescending and did not even figure out the problem. Extremely rude. would never recommend him. STAY AWAY.
If you are looking for a Dr. who spends most of your visit tapping into a computer while you speak find someone else. Dr. Halperin has a great bedside manner, asks lots of questions and gets right to the issues. He put my issues into perspective and I felt better when I left. His assistant is really nice and also has a sense of humor. Rather than just hand me the name of a diagnostic center for me to call, she called right there for my apt. Who does that today? It was very helpful. The Dr is someone who has a lot of experience and wisdom and frankly I trust his opinion more than many of the specialists I have seen who seen to be averse to answering any question not in the area of specialty.Hope this helps for those not sure what to do.
Dr. Halperin is so sweet and really makes me feel comfortable despite my many questions. With his age comes lots of wisdom. I highly recommend him :)
Great doctor. Made me feel incredibly comfortable. He will definitely be my PCP moving forward.
Dr. Halperin is a great guy and handled all of my medical needs/questions with no issues.
He was very Loud, when talking about my personal reason why I was there. I had to ask him to close the door, I didn't feel comfortable. He refereed me to another office and that was the better choice. I was glad actually.
Dr. Halperin took the time to sit down and ask me questions about myself and family history and was very caring and kind. I would highly recommend him!
Dr. Halperin is just wonderful. He took the time to get a clear understanding of my medical history and the purpose of my visit. He is extremely knowledgable and caring - my visit with him was the least "transactional" medical appointment I've ever had. I trust his expertise, as well as his recommendations for other professionals and specialists to whom he referred me for follow-up treatment. I'm so grateful to have found Dr. Halperin!
Dr. Halperin was referred to me by a friend after I was dissatisfied with my current primary doctor. I researched him. He has a great reputation. He was one of the best doctors I've ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable, take time to learn about you and your medical history and has excellent bedside manners. His approach is great especially in this day and age of doctor visits where the doctor only spends 5 - 10 minutes with you. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Halperin was extremely personable, competent, and to the point. He was able to recommend me to a good specialist nearby, whom he called to get me an appointment immediately.
Amazing doctor with a wealth of experience behind him. Great bedside manner. Enjoyed engaging him in politics while he expertly tended to my ailments
Moved to NYC 3 years ago and been on a search for the perfect doctor. My search is now over! He is everything I need in a doctor and more. Very professional with a wonderful personality to go with it.
Dr. Halperin was extremely peofessional. He made sure to focus on my symptoms individually and treat me accordingly, unlike other doctors that seem interested only in writing prescriptions. Highly recommend.
He asked lot of questions, that he thought would be right out of experience. He was not able to find the name the problem i was facing. I would just say, he is ok.
