Patient reviews for Dr. Irving Buterman
Old school doctor and very good at it!!
Dr. Buterman is what one would call "old school". He means well but his bed side manner is very blunt and under expressive. You really have to pull information from him. In addition the office is not digitized, there is no email or portal, everything is done over the phone and often no-one calls you back. I think I got average care, but I really had to be proactive and aggressive. That being said, his office is always full.
Highly recommend! Very professional soctor and friendly stuff
I had my first child with him and was afraid he may not be practicing on my second. Guess what, he is! He is a straight shooter and I love it. He is honest and experienced and puts my mind at ease. If you want a fluffy doctor, he is not it. If you want to be sure you and your little one are in great hands, go to Dr. B. We are expecting next month and are so grateful to have found him.
He was rude and impatient . Waste of time!
Worst experience of my life.
This a very nice doctor
Dr. Buterman is kind, compassionate, and quickly resolves issues while making you feel at ease. You know you are in good hands with such a highly experienced and knowledgeable doctor.
Any and all concerns I had for Dr. Buterman was give consideration as well as proactive solutions to them. He has an extensive part involved in repeated patient’s throughout conception to delivery! Kindly offered to guide me through my future pregnancy!
Dr.Butterman is the best! He delivered all my children I trust him completely
Very knowledgeable! His approach doesnt begin with that immediate medical facility vibe. I was first invited into his business office before the exam and returned afterward to review. Cool approach!
My last visit was very uncomfortable. Dr. Buterman seemed very distracted and in a rush. I scheduled an appointment as I was afraid and concerned about some symptoms. After the exam he opened the door while I was still exposed. Bedside manner was not good, but maybe he was having a bad day as this was not the experience I had during my previous visit.
Caring, soothing personality with assuring demeanor.
He is the best doctor! He is always very professional and kind.
What a great doctor, a humble human being, a patient man and a caring individual. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality care from a true human being with soul and sweetness. Very happy to be his patient! Looking forward to amazing memories throughout my pregnancy with Dr.Buterman and his sweet staff.
Best doctor??So warm and caring.
i have been seeing Dr Buterman for over 15 years and I have never been treated with less than complete professionalism, attentiveness and care. His experience and approach on treatment of any ailments I have encountered were handled with the utmost care and with extreme knowledge and explanations of treatment approaches were full explained and evaluated.
My visit was informative and reassuring. I that my concerns were addressed. Dr Buterman is kind and understanding.
Creepy dude. Was only there for birth control but he insisted on doing an exam when i had just had one two weeks before. He was very rough andt hen he smelled his fingers and called me "baby". Wouldnt reccomend any young woman coming here.
I have been going to Dr. Buterman for years! He is a great doctor with a ton of experience and has always made me feel comfortable and cared for.
Very professional setting, he was willing to answer all of my questions. Thank you!
This was my first time using Dr Butterman. I used his service based on ratings from my health insurance. My reason for not recommending him partially for his service, but due to his staff which you will NEED to interact with if you go to this doctor. I went in for a routine yearly check and some lab work was ordered. We never discussed what the lab work was going to be. For that I don't think it was correct from him - he should have gone over the details. Then I received a bill from my insurance saying that they requested 14 lab exams with outrageous prices and were mostly not covered. I am a healthy 27 year old going for a routine exam and I am not sure of why these were all ordered. No other doctor had done this before. I tried calling the office to get my medical records which would show what was ordered and why. Someone named Monica started transferring me saying I needed to talk to the lab before I was even done asking my question. I was confused since I was not sure of why they would transfer me to a lab so I could get my records from the doctor (or why would the lab have my medicine records for that matter?). I called back and they didn't pick up. When they finally did pick up, she doesn't want to speak to me once again, is calling me things like sweet heart and all of those words that you try to say when you want to diminish someone without being explicit. After much back and forth she explains that by lab she meant their own nurse. There is no way I would know that beforehand, and there is no reason why she couldn't have said I needed to speak to the nurse. When I explained to her that except for them, nobody else would say that la is their own nurse, she once again transferred me with no notice. I tried to call and give feedback to the front desk, and the woman Ashley said that this is how they treat their customers. And apparently I should have known that lab means their own nurse. I will be resolving this issue and I will never be coming back.
Dr. Buterman, was patient, kind and caring. He explained to me my condition and treatment clearly. He was gentle and reassuring. The staff was pleasant and accommodating.
Excellent attention to detail. Very efficient
Very good experience.
The office needs to be organized a little bit better. For example, when I had to leave a urine sample there was several cups on the sink that other patients left still sitting there. This is not good one bit. Plus patients are put in the examination room to then go to the doctors office then back to exam room to be examined. This is sooo u organized. Dr. Buterman treats he's patient very well but as far as the office organization it is horrible. I would put it lasts this office as far as mistakes made because lack of organization.
Highly disorganized office, I would not recommend to anyone. I had to wait nearly two hours to be seen, and the actual time spent with the doctor was so rushed, probably about 3 minutes total. Terrible experience.
Excellat doctors worth the wait
One of the best doctors around. Humane, knowledgeable, prompt to act.
He is a gentleman and he has a very good bedside manner. Loved that he took the time to talk to me and explain everything. He put me at ease. I felt that he knew me before. Really a gentleman.
The office staff was demeaning. Dr Buterman was condescending and abrasive. He dismissed my concerns over the way I've been feeling without barely waiting for the words to leave my mouth. He offered absolutely zero medical advice and did not engage in any sort of discussion when I told him how I'd felt. He merely looked at me and told me I was fine. His office was also a complete pigsty and I would never go back.
I was very nervous about finding a new doctor after recently moving to the area, but Dr. Buterman is fantastic! He has great bedside manner, and took the time to make sure to answer any and all questions I had. He's gentle and thorough. He definitely put my mind at ease. Be prepared, though, even if you fill out the paperwork online, there's still a ton you need to fill out when you get there if you're a new patient.
Excellent, experienced and very polite doctor! Clean office and very nice stuff!
This was my first visit with Dr. Buterman and I was so happy with the service he provided. He not only spoke with me and addressed my questions and concerns, but he also gave my husband so much attention and we both appreciated that. He made us feel like we can trust him to be a lead in our first pregnancy and his sense of humor and level of competency were a good fit for us. We will return for a second visit.
Dr. Buterman is a very caring doctor. I would highly recommend him.
Maybe the doctor I was seeing before was just terrible so I have little comparison, but I used to dread the annual exam. Not anymore. Dr. Buterman is a warm, friendly professional who makes you feel comfortable even in the most awkward and uncomfortable situations. I would highly recommend.
Made me feel super comfortable. He's very professional and funny. I'll defiantly be returning to his office.
I think he is an amazing doctor and knows everything. He is very nice and makes you feel very comfortable. His staff and nurses are soooo nice and very friendly. His waiting room is clean and pretty. I only waited 10 mns . I would for sure recommend him.
First things first: Dr. Buterman is fantastic. He is an exceptionally skilled OB who made my pregnancy an easy, stress free, and surprisingly funny experience. If this review were only keyed to his knowledge and bedside manner, I would give him five stars--hands down. I do think, however, that there are some serious problems with his office staff and nurses. My medical forms and test results were frequently misplaced/lost; I was billed for blood work and urine analysis that was never performed; basic logistical details about my pregnancy (e.g. preregistering at Lenox Hill up to six weeks before my delivery) were never communicated to me; my insurance details were incorrectly noted 2-3 times and billing practices were not clearly explained; and the nurses often gave conflicting information about medical procedures (e.g., one chided me for not getting a 30 week biophysical profile that the doctor had never mentioned). Additionally, the office does not seem to be up-to-date on screening protocols for pregnant women. For instance, universal screening for toxoplasmosis is no longer recommended for low-risk women due to the rate of high false positives, but the nurses insisted I do it at 32 weeks--long after it would have made a difference for the fetus or for me. Maybe it's ironic, but for me the most stressful part of being pregnant was dealing with these various glitches on the part of Dr. Buterman's support team. I started my care with a different provider (in a different state; we moved when I was about 12 weeks along), so I know that this is not the norm. The three star rating, then, is to let other women know that if you do choose Dr. Buterman as your OB, you must be an advocate for yourself and stay vigilant about the details of your healthcare. If you're okay with that, there's really no better OB out there.
Dr. Buterman is the way a good Dr should be. I trust him implicitly. He is caring and makes sure that the patient feels comfortable and asks if the patient has any questions and he really means it. He has been my physician for many years. I just wish him good health so that he can continue to provide the excellent care that he has been giving throughout the years. I highly recommend him !
I had the best experience with Dr. Buterman! He is the kindest most gentle and comforting obgyn doc I have ever met! I am so pleased to have chosen him as my doctor! Please do not hesitate to go to him! He takes his time with you and truly cares. Dr. McCall
