Patient reviews for Dr. James Ryan Macdonell
Smart, listened to me. Discussed all options. Left decisions to me - not pushy at all. Great staff - PA a real gem. One-stop shopping for all your ortho needs!
Calm, professional approach. Have seen him several times.
Well informed, focused. Had answers to all my questions, including infection rates/procedures and recovery times. Busy practice but took enough time to work out a preliminary plan.
Very knowledgeable and a very nice manner about him. He is upfront about information and tendencies of his patients so as to make sure you can benefit as they do.
Listened to what the problem was and offered solutions to the problem and to check back for the findings.
Dr Macdonell patiently listened and diagnosed the issues re my knee. He answered all my questions. The current recommendation was PT but he provided a plan if my knee does not improve with PT. Completely satisfied with my appointment. Gary R
I like the fact that he had the mindset of “motion means lotion” and didn’t have me stop exercising because I was hurting. He is open-minded and thought mindful movement was better, which I agreed. We’ll see after 2 mos. if this strategy worked. Let’s hope!
My orthopedic consultation with Dr. Mcdonald went smoothly. The office was well run and efficient. The medical staff were professional and personable. Dr. Mcdonald share my x-rays with me, answered every question I had, provided relevant literature, and recommended a second opinion if I wanted more information about my diagnosis. I felt engaged, respected, and not talked down to. I would recommend Dr. Mcdonald for orthopedic consultation.
Very knowledgeable and spot-on diagnosis and treatment plan. Found ways to save money, too. I recommend him without reservation.
There was a mix up with the appointment time. I scheduled the appointment for 8:30 am but Dr. Macdonnell doesn't see patients that early. Though I received at least 3 reminders by email about the appointment, the office said they called the night before to let me know the error. Since I figured the office was just calling to confirm the appointment time I didn't pay attention to the message. The office handled it well. I was taken back at about 8:30, x-rays were taken and I was seen by Dr. Macdonnell around 9:15.
Excellent doctor who does his reading of file and current reports before he enters exam room. Stays up on latest info. Listens to me and responds accordingly. I don't feel rushed. I would recommend him highly.
All the staff were great. Very friendly and thorough. For a 3:00 appointment I was taken back just after 4:00. That was the longest wait time. The waiting room was packed so it seemed like all the doctors were running behind schedule. When I left around 4:40, the waiting room was empty. If they could keep things on schedule, it would be the perfect office!
It went well. Very professional. But where to proceed after the visit got a little mixed up. I had a knee and shoulder looked at. PT prescription came out for the shoulder, but the advice was for MRI for knee, but did not get prescription. That is if my memory serves me well, which it doesn't always do.
Very professional and to the point.
Informative, listens well, conservative medical approach (doesn't leap to surgical remedies) ...
Very professional and knowledgeable about my injury and the treatment. I’m a nurse so we were right on the same page from the beginning.
Excellent bedside manner. Made the wait seem okay.
He is friendly and professional. I had post op visit and am recovering from my surgery remarkably well.
Dr. Macdonald was very professional but approachable and had a lovely bedside manner. He answered all my questions straightforward and I feel very confident he would be a wonderful surgeon. I am fairly confident he will be my surgeon for my second hip replacement.
Dr Macdonnell was great. He asked questions and listened to the answers. I felt he valued my input. I have seen other docs in this practice and Dr McDonnell gives the same high quality high touch care.
Very informative, empathetic doctor. Pleased to have received a thorough explanation of my issues and my alternatives.
Dr. MacDonnell is absolutely the best I would recommend him to anyone anticipating hip surgery. His office staff is kind courteous and professional
Very kind, thorough, and professional. Listened to my concerns and quickly developed a diagnosis and treatment plan.
This was one of the best doctor visits I've had. Dr. MacDonell has a terrific bedside manner he was so polite and caring plus he actually listened to all of my concerns. He thoroughly explained the procedure I plan on having pros and cons such a pleasure meeting him.
Dr MacDonell was courtesy and thorough. Very nice guy.
Excellent!! Takes time to go over any questions & does not rush you . I would definitely refer him to my friends.....
Excellent and professional!
I had accidentally slammed a car door on my thumb and was in tremendous pain and very concerned about my injury. I was able to book an appointment spur-of-the-moment with Dr. Macdonnell and his office staff was extremely kind. Dr. Macdonnell was very helpful and reassured me that I would be fine. He also kindly consulted with the "hand specialist" on their team about my injury, which was really nice and very thorough.
