He is an excellent orthopedist
From my visit Dr. Thiel was very nice and professional
Extremely knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and exact with his diagnosis.
the parking is expensive, first hour is free, but you're there longer.
Front staff was unfriendly
Dr. Thiel is amazing. He has excellent bedside manner. Takes the time to explain and educate. I highly recommend Dr. Thiel. World class doc!!
Dr. James Thiel is a very knowledgeable specialist. Took him time to explain my condition to me in a great detail and recommended the best treatment from which I can get the most benefit from.
Excellent service. I was seen immediately. The office even called to let me know I could come in earlier. Dr. Thiel made my diagnosis right away. He explained my condition to me and gave me a few options for treatment. Now I actually have hope for recovery.
Everyone in the office was extremely nice and helpful. The parking is a little tricky though.
Dr. Thiel was great, thorough, personable, and explained things to me perfectly!
Me and 2 other family members have gone to see Dr. Thiel, he is very professional, excellent manners, truly cares about his patients, not aggressive with pushing surgery like most doctors. Our family recommends Dr. Thiel to everyone that is looking for an Orthopedic surgeon and an honest opinion.
During vacation I broke a bone in my small finger and had received initial treatment in an emergency room. Three days later, I saw Dr. Thiel as an orthopedic followup to ensure that the fracture healed correctly. Dr. Thiel carefully studied the injury and the provided hospital x-rays. He then ordered another set of x-rays to check correct bone alignment. He thoroughly explained the medical condition and treatment options. Particularly, I appreciated that the doctor gently applied the new cast himself after realigning the broken bone (closed reduction) and that he rechecked bone positioning in the splint with x-rays. The doctor and everybody else I saw in the office were very friendly and attentive and acted in a professional manner. The office is near Silver Spring Metro and can also be easily accessed from the parking garage (car entrance from Second Avenue). The office validates one hour of parking.
Very thorough explanations of conditions and treatment options
Good guy, a fine Doctor.
It was awesome! Dr. Thiel was kind, respectful, personable, and listened to what I had to say. He evaluated my injury (and achilles injury), went over my xrays, and explained the injury and solution in terms a non-doctor could understand. He was clear and professional throughout the entire appointment. The assistant that proceeded Dr. Thiel (if I recall correctly his name is Emmanuel) also provided excellent service. He was both friendly and professional, and explained what I needed to know in terms I could understand. He even explained what my blood pressure numbers meant aside from just giving me the numbers (b/c I wouldn't know good numbers vs. bad numbers). The whole staff there, from front desk, to the x-ray tech, were all really nice. I would definitely recommend this office. Oh, and because I wasn't sure how much of the visit my insurance would cover, Emmanuel got someone from the front desk to run my insurance before any x-rays were taken, so that I would know how much the visit would be before deciding to have any additional work (x-rays and such) done. Superb team :)
I was very happy with results of surgery for a meniscus tear. Very efficient process from initial visit through post-surgery follow up. No nonsense/straightforward but also patient and answered all my questions.
The parking garage is a little bit of a nightmare but it was worth it. Reception staff was friendly and efficient. Saw Doctor Theil within 15 min of arriving. He was knowledgable, friendly, and got me out o there quickly but I did not feel rushed at all. The office itself looks a little dated but that kind of thing doesnt matter one bit to me
Took the time to explain everything and listen to my concerns. X-rays done right there as well. Once I got back there, things moved quickly- it was processing through the front desk that was slow and a tad lacking.
The staff was awesome! Very helpful. was well taken care of and would recommend him and his practice to anyone.
Good courteous staff, friendly competent physician and on site X-Ray. Super close to Metro stop. Only negative was old and quite filthy exam table.
Dr. James is very well informed and knowledgeable. He gave me several options for treatment and is letting me decide on what is my preference based on the risks involved with each.
My visit with Dr. Thiel went well. He conducted his examination, was able to promptly make a diagnosis, provided treatment, and gave me a prescription for PT. I thought that Dr. Thiel was pleasant, professional, and to the point. Unfortunately, it took more than an hour before I was actually seen by Dr. Thiel.
Dr. Thief was great and very knowledgeable! The office itself looks like it's in need of a major renovation. The receptionists were nice and even gave me free samples of a topical while I'm waiting for my prescription to get in. Easy to get location to get to.
Dr. Thiel was very helpful. He enlightened me on several things that I was not aware of. Thank you Dr Thiel
He doesn't explain much, but I didn't have a really complicated problem so can't complain too much.
Very patient and understanding to my problems. Excellent in all circumstances and very knowledgable in explaining the situation.
Excellent visit. Dr. Thiel takes time with the patient to discuss the issues of each particular situation, notes any progress and what might be done to improve the situation. I broke my collar bone in March and have seen Dr. Thiel about every three to four weeks in the beginning and then six weeks before the final visit, and we have tracked my healing progress with x-rays and home exercises. I will now consider Dr. Thiel as my orthopedist if I might need one in the future because I feel he is competent and genuinely cares for his patients.
Absolutely prompt and efficient, very happy to leave feeling confident in getting proper and excellent treatment.
The Silver Spring, Maryland location was quite close to the metro, had a pretty awesome environment and a wonderful vibe. My visit was great. Dr. Thiel was very thorough and he had an excellent bedside manner. I was diagnosed with runner's knee and Dr. Thiel provided various exercises for me to do. Surgery was the last resort and not really necessary, which Dr. Thiel indicated, but still discussed. I also want to add that amazingly, the front desk staff was quite expeditious and friendly. There was even a fantastic staff member who discussed shoe inserts with me (which would help my flat feet). I would definitely recommend Dr. Thiel and the Silver Spring location. He will be my go to doctor for sports medicine! It's always a great feeling find a wonderful doctor. Thank you ZoDoc for having such a great site and making it easier to find doctors quickly.
The doctor was great. I had been suffering from a cycling-related IT band problem for 5+ years and his simple explanation helped me overcome. He gave some exercises and explained what the process is in order for my injury to heal. That was the most important part of all. I actually opted not to see a PT and do the exercises myself. I did 3 days a week for 3 months and now at about 1 or 2 days a week after 6 months. You really have to make these exercises part of your lifestyle. My IT band is almost healed. No more pain anymore while riding !!!
Dr. Thiel was great. He and his support staff were all very friendly and professional. I was seen quickly and never had to wait very long for anything (like x-rays, or a physical therapy routine). Even the parking staff were helpful. The doctor took the time to listen to what my symptoms and situation are, to explain what was going on with my knee by pointing out the issues on the x-rays, and the options for treatment. He even spoke to me about possible future issues and what to expect. I like that he almost immediately ruled out surgery and was happy to set me up with alternatives.
Awesome visit, awesome team
Excellent. He answered all our questions and explained everything in detail. Even recommended extra exercises for my daughter to use throughout her soccer career. Wonderful office staff and will continue to return to M.O.S.T.
Dr. Thiel is excellent. He took time to assess the injury and walk me through the various treatment options. He is very thorough. The office is not very pleasant though.
I just switched to Dr Thiel and I went to him with an injured knee. His assessment was 100% to me because for the first time I walked away feeling like I had a doctor that took the time to look at my knee and ask about my pain points, testing different positions before sitting down to looking at the Xray. I understood his diagnosis and I feel very confident about his recommendations to get me back to 100%
He answered all of my questions thoroughly and made me feel very comfortable. He performed two procedures on my wrist and has made my condition more bearable. I will be back for any future ortho issues!
My visit with Dr. Thiel went well, but the wait time was unacceptable and took away from the experience of the visit. I initially had to wait more than one hour to be moved to a patient room, at which point I endured further waits for additional procedures like x-rays. At times, it seemed as if physician assistants and others had simply forgotten to check in on me to see if I had been seen yet. Dr. Thiel, however, did a good job, although he seemed a bit rushed when he saw me. He made a real effort to understand my symptoms, and spent time explaining to me in detail the different types of conditions associated with my problem and what my diagnostics showed. He was also quite thorough in examining the area as well as surrounding body systems to determine direct causes and possible contributing factors. Overall, I would return to Dr. Thiel again given the good work that he seems to do. However, I would probably budget an extra hour or two, especially if coming during a busy time of the day.
He used diagrams and models to show me what was going on with my knee, which was super helpful in helping me understand why I am in pain.
Liked my visit. He was professional and answered all my questions.
I had a short orthopedic consultation with Dr. Thiel regarding ongoing elbow tendonitis. He was polite, kind, helpful and professional and recommended actionable steps that I can take to control my pain in the future and what to do if it gets worse. Wait time wasn't too bad, the receptionists were very nice and professional, and the X-ray tech was as well. Overall a pleasant visit, would recommend.
Dr. Thiel rushed through my appointment. He was also condescending and dismissive of the chronic foot pain which prompted my consultation.
I've been to quite a few Orthopedists and Dr.Thiel is by far the best. He took the time to explain my condition in detail and answered every question I had. I was very thoroughly examined and did not feel rushed. Excellent experience!
Offered excellent explanations, and was clear about treatment options.
Thorough exam. Explained what he was doing and why he wanted to run certain tests. Open informative manner.
Dr. Third is an excellent doctor. Gentle hands. Breaks down each step, reminds you of your role and answers your questions.
He managed to listen to me enough to get the basics, but still a little too rushed for my tastes. Seemed to be reasonable in terms of diagnosing the xray of my neck, gave sensible advice. Agreed with me that physical Therapy was out of the question at this stage.
Dr. Thiel is very competent, professional, and informative. I felt like I was in the best of hands.
Dr.Thiel was very professional. This was my first visit with doctor Thiel, He was on point with my diagnosis and start treating it right away. I felt very comfortable with his decision. I would highly recommend Dr. Thiel.
Dr. Thiel, explained thoroughly and in detail what was causing the pains in my knees and my right elbow. He explained the treatment and what to expect and what the alternatives would be. Dr. Thiel is was very knowledgeable of my symptoms and I feel confident he will do his best to help me through my ordeal. I recommend Dr. Thiel 100%.
Very knowledgeable and pleasant.
I believe Dr. tHiel was very knowledgeable and professional! Recommended!
Wonderful Doctor. He is very professional and knows what he is doing. Explains everything he is doing in the procedure and is knowledgeable and caring. I will Continue to go back to see him
Wonderful - he explained everything in detail so I have a complete understanding of my condition and treatment options. It was the best Health Care experience I have had in a long time - professional, highly competent, and caring - I'm just sorry he isn't a GP, I'd switch in a minute.
He is great. Gentle, explains things well.
I loved it. He offered many options to help my issues. I strongly recommend him and look forward to using him in the future.
Very good at explaining the problem and next steps. Didn't feel rushed.
He was great...but the wait time...boo
My visit with Dr. Thiel was great. I have been having issues with ACL tears, rather than dismiss my issues and just recommend another surgery, he went above and beyond to explore possible causes, and provided me with different treatment options and went over the pros and cons of each one in great detail. I highly recommend him.
Excellent service, timely and I felt better before I left!
Wait time was unacceptable when the parking garage is something you have to pay for. They need to respect people's time. I felt it was not a very organized office.
He did a thorough exam, but neglected to ask what activities Gwen was going to be engaged in the next week or two, which was directly related to her shoulder condition.
Despite the wait as they seem to have been busy, it was well worth it. I was very pleased with my visit with Dr. Thiel. He was thorough, open, very informative and personable. He took time to make sure I understood the diagnosis and treatment needed. I walked away with no questions. Highly recommend him!!
He was a very thoughtful and thorough doctor. I was extremely pleased that he is trying to figure the problem out rather than ignore the small symptoms. He treated my issue like pieces of a puzzle that needed to go together. I would highly recommend him.
Appointment was right on time with little to no wait. Dr. Theil was extremely nice and explained everything in great detail. I was able to quickly schedule my surgery and get on with my life. Would highly recommend him in the future.
Doctor is great, office and staff seem extremely busy and overbooked.
Excellent facilities, staff and doctor. Parking at same level of office is great.
I took my dad to the doctor with my mom and overall the experience was great. He explained everything in detail to my dad, mom and myself. He had patience with questions we were asking. In addition he gave us a website to read more about what my dad has. I would defiantly recommend this doctor.
Dr. Thiel was through and professional. He explained the problems with my knee and identified and explained the various treatment alternatives. In addition, he provided me with several web sites to get more information for my understanding of the various medical alternatives . I highly recommend Dr. Thiel and the wonderful staff.
Great experience - Dr Thiel took the time to really examine my hand and explain what was going on; answered all my questions. No feeling of being rushed.
Dr. Thiel really connected with me. He is a great Doctor. He took the time to explain in details the diagnosis of my fracture and answered all my questions and more. I trust him 100%.
Very personable, didn't rush through the visit, took time to discuss and explain options for treatment of my injury.
Excellent service from the registration desk, to xray. All of staff was not only professional but pleasant. It's rare that you see a practice that large ran in such efficient manner. They have a very organized system. Dr. Thiel was very informative and seem to be a nice doctor.
