Professional statement

Have you ever heard the saying, "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is the definition of insanity?' Or "if nothing changes, nothing changes." Well, by becoming mindful or gaining awareness of yourself and/or your patterns, you will have the opportunity to change. The mind is a powerful instrument and i hope I can help you understand how yours has been helping or hurting you thus far. I lead a long term Psychotherapy group which focuses on self-esteem and interpersonal patterns. Groups are a powerful change agent. All of my groups are comprised of my current clients who I put together based on their common goals and experiences. Group members delve into their issues in their individual sessions while at the same exploring their patterns and receiving support in the group. The emotional breakthroughs and corrective emotional experiences I have been witness to are priceless. My training and experience is diverse, having worked in the forensic field (jails and institutions), Student Counseling Centers and Eating Disorders hospitals. I taught Psychology and Substance Abuse at John Jay College of Criminal Justice prior to dedicating myself to private practice in 2002. I specialize in mood, eating and addictive disorders, although many of my clients attend therapy with general goals of improving their life in regards to relationships, careers, self-esteem and other common struggles. Ultimately, I have found that a positive therapeutic relationship and a tailor made plan is necessary for a successful therapy experience. I look forward to working with you!
