Dr. Joseph Damore, MD

Allergist

Professional statement

An allergist at Medex, Joseph D’Amore has a fondness for fine cuisine. He has become a respected figure in the Long Island community, dishing out delicious meals along with healthy doses of service. A gourmet chef before going to medical school, Dr. D’Amore now uses his culinary passion for charity events, including the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s “Cook for the Cure” program and the Great Chefs event, raising thousands of dollars for the endeavors. But cooking for a cause is just the start to D’Amore’s big, half-Italian, half-Jewish heart. He spends anywhere from 25 to 50 hours each month volunteering, on top of a 60-hour work week. He has been recognized by the Family Service League and Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and New Jersey for his efforts.

This dr suggested that it was my fault that my child reacted to antibiotics- that I had pressed a dr into giving them for something that doesn't need antibiotics. I would never see this guy again, except- We had the blooddraw in June. He was first on vacation and then it turns out he only works Thursdays and then it turns out he only works every other Thursday and then it turns out he doesn't give results over the phone. So now it's September and we don't know if my son is allergic to penicillin or not. The entire practice is disinterested in helping and would not recommend to anyone.

Nothing like a provider who makes you feel like family. He knows his job and explains things in plain words for you to understand.

Despite the wait I enjoyed my visit w/ Dr. Damore. He was extremely thorough & explained everything to me in detail. He even offered to work my pharmacist regarding any issues in filling my medicine. Would highly recommend.
