He earned his Bachelor of Science from Temple University and Graduate Degree from University of Pennsylvania. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Guadalajara in 1969 and completed his Internship at St. John’s Memorial Hospital in Newfoundland. Dr. Steingard started his first private practice in 1974 and has been treating patients throughout the Philadelphia area ever since. Dr. Steingard has also held numerous teaching positions in the field of Family Medicine at St. Agnes Medical Center and Allegheny University of Health Sciences, for instance. Excellent
Great experience. Went in for a few things, knew what I wanted to ask before I got there. Doc was old school, thorough, down to earth. Spoke to me and not at me. Nurse practitioner was great as well. Receptionist was reasonably nice and the whole appointment was done in a reasonable amount of time. Highly recommend.
I love going to Dr steingard to see his physician's assistant Dr steingard doesn't seem to really care about my overall health especially with all the problems I'm having now
It was all good, but the wait was just too much. I went twice, and every time I had to wait for more than an hour.
It’s been more than a day and the doctor hasn’t sent the prescription to the pharmacy. Their messaging system and emergency line hasn’t helped or done anything at all. Not going back.

I've taken my family here for 25 years, with the exception of a few years here and there when our insurance changed. The wait time has improved drastically. When my kids were little, it meant a visit took a whole morning, or a whole afternoon or evening. Not any longer, and I can't even say that the in-exam room time has suffered, because it hasn't. I initially chose this practice for its evening hours. They also used to be open on Saturday mornings for sick child visits. My only negative experience today was that a new Rx was ordered for me (at a morning appointment), but it wasn't sent to the pharmacy until near 5 pm. Then it turned out to be something requiring prior authorization. So since tomorrow is Friday, I probably won't have the new med until next week.
Steingard has been my primary doctor since 1990. Even though I had not seen him in a few years , then finally did a few weeks ago. He always has a good bedside manner. He always looks out for your well being. He had Concerns about my health issues and I was admitted to the hospital and he was there every day to see me.
He didn't seem to really care about any of my needs as a patient, and took an extremely long time to get to me. I would no recomend this place to anyone looking serious "care". He was reluctant to answer questions about the medication he was prescribing me. Very unprofessional.

Very good doctor as far as I can tell don't know him many years like my past doctors I've had in my life. Seems in tune with what your aliments are to me. Good that he does question the patient which is important to me.

Dr. Joseph Steingard is the best physician in the world. He has treated me since I was born and as I have fallen very ill with a severe Digestive Disease as an adult, he had saved my life on numerous occasions. Dr. Steingard never fails to give his all to his patients. He continuously and wholeheartedly dedicates his life to ensuring the health and safety of those who see him. His professionalism and bedside manner are unique in the way that unlike many doctors, he makes you feel welcomed and calm during what can be a scary time. He treats his patients like family and for this, I am grateful. Dr. Steingard is the elite, the best of the best. I am confident that without his care and concern, I would not be here today. I highly recommend him to others. If you are looking for a doctor who is kind, thorough, and goodhearted, than this is your guy. He is knowledgeable in his field and will stop at nothing to ensure that whatever is ailing you is quickly eradicated. Doctor Steingard is amazing, without a doubt, a class act. Dr. Steingard is the most cheerfully excellent, attentive Doctors I've ever encountered. I actually look forward to my visits. He never rushes, he takes the time to listen and explain things. He actually wants to follow-up after initial appointments and remembers your history.

I probably didn't need to see the Dr. In order to receive test results and thus pay an extra copay for an office visit. Aside from that Dr. Steinguard has been my family and lifelong M.D. for over 50_years. He is a top doc!

I have been his patient for over ten years. He was recommended to me when I had first moved to Philadelphia for primary care. He and I have built a relationship over the years and he has taken the time to listen to my health problems before writing a script or just giving me a bill. He might take longer compared to other MD's in order to do this which results in a longer wait time before seeing him. He is old school and actually cares. His PA is lovely also. Cares about her patients, has recent medical knowledge and so she catches little things Steingard may have missed. They make a great team. I'll endure the wait in order to get the correct information when it comes to my health.

Not only is he a doctor but he is also a psychiatrist and shows concern about your emoitonal state of mind before prescribing something without making sure he knows your background. Many doctors do not form somewhat of a personal relationship with their patients and it is important to know the burdens of someones lifestyle to better understand what will work for them best. This doctor cares, there is admiration and much trust, which is very important when medical supervision is involved. I feel like he is truly working to help people and not just in it for the buck.
I like Dr Steingard but I am still in as much pain as I was in before I went to him so I think my visit to him was a waste of my time and money

My visit with Dr. Steingard on July 16, 2015 was very good. The staff provided EKG procedures to further diagnose my concerns. After that I was referred to further testing immediately and was seen right away ( less than 5 minute waiting). This visit as all of my visits are taken seriously and I am given the attention I feel my concerns deserve. A+ to the staff. Today everything was above and beyond what I expected. It was great.

Dr Steingard took the time and ask various questions prior to the examination. He examined and provided his diagnosis. Dr Steingard stated that if my condition did not start to improve or worsen to call over the weekend. Regardless he wants me to call on Tuesday and provide an update and have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks. Dr Steingard cares about his patients. The entire staff cares about their patients and ask about other family members.
He was friendly and cared. I appreciated his expertise and demeanor. Wonderful experience overall!
