Dr. Irving is a board-certified psychiatrist. consistent with the philosophy of The Genen Group, Dr. Irving believes that while not every patient may require or benefit from psychotropic medication, every patient benefits from therapy. this perspective influences her practice style. Dr. Irving is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. After graduating cum laude from Smith College with a major in neuroscience, she was a researcher at the University of Minnesota before attending medical school on a U.S. Navy scholarship. She completed her Psychiatry Residency training at Naval Medical Center San Diego where she was awarded the prestigious Laughlin Fellowship by the American College of Psychiatrists. As an active duty Navy psychiatrist, Dr. Irving was the department head of Behavioral Health and director of the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation program at the US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy. She finished her Navy career as the Senior Medical Officer at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton where she was also actively involved in teaching Residents. Dr. Irving and her husband enjoy their free time taking care of their small avocado and citrus farm in Oceanside.
