Thank you, we look forward to working with you! Dr. Gundersen is a Board-Certified, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist. Consistent with the philosophy of the Genen Group, Dr. Gundersen believes that while not every patient may require or benefit from psychotropic medication, every patient benefits from therapy. This perspective influences his practice style. Dr. Gundersen graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Biochemistry awarded with distinction. As an undergraduate, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa for his interest in broad academic study. He was also an outstanding scholar-athlete being named academic all-conference in swimming multiple years. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kansas Medical School.

Dr Gundersen seems to be a caring doctor who is responsive to a patients needs and preferences. When interacting with previous physicians in this field I have been routinely encouraged to re-try medications that I have had a dangerous reaction too. Dr Gundersen took my concerns into consideration when choosing medications to try and due to that we were able to find a great balance of benefit/side-effect. That being said, this office, it's policies and behavior towards patients is at best unacceptable and at worst predatory. From a massive fee for being more than a few minutes late to check-in (required >10 minutes prior to appointment start time) for your appointment, to cancellations/rescheduling without apology or explanation (or notification I might add), to a rather large fee they charge you if you'd like have your prescriptions refilled - a full 5 second process. Bizarre, hostile, and unethical are all words I'd use to describe my interactions with the office staff. These people are actually the worst and I will not be returning to their office, despite my good experience with the Dr himself.
Dr. Gundersen is remarkable. I usually don't feel too comfortable seeking out male medical professionals, but he was overwhelmingly kind and calm, and such a great listener. I would highly recommend him. I've been in therapy for about 7 years on and off, and he's just wonderful and trusting and made me feel comfortable from the first appointment. That's the best thing you could ever ask for from a psychiatrist.
No compassion, totally weird and awkward personality and dismissive.
Disciplined psychiatrist with keen understanding of medication and patient nuances. Very difficult to find a well versed doctor in ADHD and physical conditiins which can play a vital role in total wellbeing. I never feel Dr Gunderson will dismiss or deviate for the benefit of time or money.
Their office management seems to continue to have scheduling issues. They messed up my work schedule twice and do not follow-up to ensure your appointment is set. Pretty fustrating for working professionals.
The doctor was fine, but the office staff/policies are no good. I had new insurance for my 2nd appt and they would not confirm the appt until I could get them a copy of the insurance card, yet their e-mail didn't work so that was impossible. They refused to simply take my member ID or SSN and contact the insurance company (in-network!). If they care this little about keeping me as a patient, they're not the doctor for me.
I'm not big on writing internet reviews but I felt compelled to spread the good word about Dr. Gunderson. After dealing with tons of hacks in the medical community here in LA (albeit other specialties), Dr. G and his office at Genen Group are a breath of fresh air. Easy to schedule appts and GREAT communication from the front-of-house (a rarity in LA). Just plainly a very professional experience that exudes pride of ownership (a rarity anywhere nowadays). As for the consultation, Dr. Gunderson has an excellent bedside manner and is thorough in a very intelligent, polite and thoughtful way. They allot an appropriate amount of time for appointments (i.e. doesn't feel like you're being rushed out the door) and there's a clear vibe that this outfit has genuine concern for their patients' well-being. A+
Dr. Gundersen is patient, attentive and very calm. I was impressed by his ability to listen, ask occasional questions for either more information or to redirect the conversation to an area he thought we should explore. Good first impression.
Attentive, highly knowledgeable, & very easy to book and work with. Office staff are extremely polite and welcoming.
He didn't excite me. I suppose he's competent but almost too subdued.
