About Dr. Paul M. Brisson
Selected by Castle Connolly as one of New York Metro’s Top Doctors for 10 years in a row, Dr. Brisson has been helping his patients relieve their back pain for over 25 years and currently serves as the Director of Spinal Surgery at New York Downtown Hospital. He has been acknowledged as the best Back Pain Doctor in NYC and has been highlighted on the cover of the Best Doctors in New York issue. Dr. Brisson’s approach to spinal care is conservative, and he typically starts with non-invasive treatments like physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises before turning to surgical procedures. He is actively involved with his patients, taking time to evaluate their overall health and medical history while determining the best course of treatment. The decision to undergo spinal surgery is complex and often fraught with anxiety. Dr. Brisson makes sure his patients understand their options and know what to expect during treatment. If surgery is needed, he and his staff are available before, during, and after the operation to answer questions and offer advice.

Patient reviews for Dr. Paul M. Brisson
Dr Brisson is the worst surgeon, uncaring about your pain, just his so-called reputation. Seriously, he does not care about you. Find a better surgeon at HSS.
Great doctors
Dr. Brisson and his entire staff were kind, compassionate, and fully understanding of my problem. Dr. Brisson took a great deal of time explaining my condition and the options which were available to me. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction and assured me to feel free to contact his office in the event I had further concerns. This was my first visit to Dr. Brisson's office, and I left satisfied with my experience.
It was an interesting session..
Do not waste your time with this doctor! My first appointment was fine, except for the long wait time, but on my second appointment I didn't even actually see Dr. Brisson. I saw a nurse who read the results of my MRI and when I asked to see the actual doctor who I had made an appointment with 6 weeks ago, she said that he only sees patients on the first visit (!!). I replied that it was misleading because I had made an appointment to see an actual doctor and not a nurse and she said, "How else would he see 150 patients in a week?" I think this office must be running some kind of insurance scam - do NOT waste your time with this doctor.
Absolutely disappointed with this doctor and his staff. For four months, I have been chasing them for MRI results with no success. Unreturned phone calls, no suggestions on how to proceed to help with my condition. They have absolutely no interest in keeping me as a patient, which is unbelievable and quite sad - I am moving on and am disappointed in this recommended doctor.
Exceelent. Beautiful office. Very courteous staff. very well organized. Dr. Brisson was to the point and very very nice.
