Qualifications and Experience
Shelley obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington and is a board certified Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Shelley focuses on providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to all of her clients. Her clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders. Her treatment philosophy revolves around open communication, setting mutual goals, and educating patients on their diagnosis and treatment plan. Shelley possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by natural ability to build rapport with patients and families. She follows evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition. When not involved with seeing clients in her practice she is often looking for ways to promote mental health in the community either through research or education. It is a passion of Shelley’s to help lessen the stigma attached to mental illness. She would also like for all people suffering from a mental health condition to be free from shame or guilt when trying to cope either as an individual or a family member of someone struggling with a mental health condition. She is currently a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, and being outdoors. Shelley enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
