INTERNAL MEDICINE/PRIMARY CARE & TRAVEL MEDICINE
MEDICAL WEIGHT LOSS & MEDICAL SKIN CARE
ALLERGY TESTING(Food&Environmental)

Dr. Shirin Peters earned her M.D. at New York Medical College and is board-certified in General Internal Medicine. She completed residency training at the Former St. Vincent’s Hospital in Manhattan, with a short stint at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Peters spent the year after completion of her residency training at a private practice in North Carolina. She simultaneously worked at a clinical research company where she acted as Principal Investigator on several large clinical trials. Here she learned about many emerging medical therapies for common chronic diseases, in their final stages of testing before FDA approval.

Dr. Peters developed an interest in treatments for obesity through her work experiences so far, both in New York and North Carolina, as well as experiences with the disease entity and its complications in her personal life. She noticed that obesity was either the root cause or an exacerbating factor for many chronic medical problems in her patients. She began to feel that finding an effective way to treat obesity in a person would be the ultimate preventative medicine and would lead to significant improvements in many of their other medical problems.

After studying materials from the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine, Dr. Peters observed a weight loss program already established at the practice where she worked. She attended courses on medical weight loss strategies, developed an arsenal of proven approaches to weight loss, and Urban Orchid Medical was born.

I should have known better than to go to Bethany Medical. First, while the other appointments listed PA's the 12:15 appointment had listed Dr. Peters so I moved my day around to see her. No one from Bethany Medical called to let me know she would not be at the office - someone started calling other patients to notify them after I was already in the office. Second, while the first person (a nurse) who took my blood pressure and weight was very friendly, she lied. I asked if a doctor would be seeing me because Dr. Peters was out and she said yes, a doctor named Sara. Third, Sara (she introduced herself as a PA via phone when she called me after the appointment) suggested I speak with my neurologist and was ready to send me on my way. After I pushed a bit about being in pain she suggested I should get sonograms done. Forth, I went for said sonograms (and the technician who was hands down the nicest person I saw at Bethany Medical today) mentioned she saw a cyst on one of my ovaries but it was small (1.5cm). When I asked for more information her boss said they could not provide any information and I'd need to speak with Dr. Peters. I asked to speak with someone who was in that could tell me what a cyst is, as Dr. Peters was out. That didn't happen. I for the second and last time left Bethany Medical scared and confused. 30 Minutes after I left Bethany Medical, PA Sara called me to explain what a cyst is and assure me that my sonogram results would be expedited. I am sad to say that I am extraordinarily doubtful that will actually happen. And, I truly hope no other patient of Bethany Medical or Dr. Peters ever has to feel as helpless as I did today.

Super helpful staff! I went there for an annual physical and it didn't take as long as I expected. Rose was really patient with explaining the different tests that she would conduct. Blood work was taken upstairs in the same building. The PA was also really patient when I was explaining my allergy symptoms.

My visit was good with the actual doctor, but I had to fill out a ton of paperwork, and then had to answer the same questions I had been asked by a nurse, and then the doctor again. It was very inefficient. That being said, this was not an abnormal occurrence. The team is wonderful and it was a very comfortable visit!

Dr. Peters and her staff were extremely friendly, helpful, professional, thorough, and efficient. I practically did not have to wait to see Dr. Peters. Registering through zocdoc helped save time, this was probably the MOST painless and fast doctor's visit I've ever had. I would greatly recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Peters has a great bedside manner and seems knowledgeable. The work-up done by the medical assistants prior to seeing her though was extremely lengthy (approx. 1hr) including an EKG, metabolic rate testing, and lung function testing. I will probably look for another primary care doctor where I don't need to go through that process.

Office was dirty and very unorganized. Started examining me without even realizing why I was there. Staff yelling across to one another and papers flying everywhere. Did not trust what was going on and did not feel sanitary. Doctor was fine but not very friendly and made me a little uncomfortable.

This isn't like the best looking place but they are very nice and polite. They have a second floor for blood work and take care of you without making you wait hours. I was pleased with how good my doctor was and that she answered all of my questions. They see you on Saturdays and that is huge for people who have to work during the week and I would recommend them for physicals on a Saturday.

Didn't seem interested. Was staring at her laptop most of the appointment. Did not think to offer any solutions that could help me without me asking.

Made an appointment with Dr. Peters but saw Dr. Grover after waiting for nearly an hour. Dr. Grover was friendly but she did not seem very knowledgable and spent most of the appointment looking up information on her iPhone. Office staff had several ongoing personal conversations, which, in such a small lobby, was disruptive and unprofessional.

I'm still sitting in the doctors office. It's 1 pm. My appointment was originally scheduled for 9am and at 8:30, I got a phone call asking me to come in later because I would be waiting a long time if I came in when I was supposed to. I came in at 10:50, for my rescheduled visit at 11 to fill out paperwork. It took an hour and a half before I even saw Dr Peters. I was with her for under 10 minutes and she told me she wanted me to see a different doctor, who was a skin specialist. He was at lunch and supposed to be back by 12:30. Needless to say, he hasn't come back and I am still waiting. This is the most unprofessional office I have been in in quite sometime. While dr peters seems like a nice person, that does not make up for the fact that this office seems to be run by a slew of completely incompetent people. I will not be returning.

I booked an GYN OB appointment. for people who's looking for that kind of clinic, don't go this place. The people who's doing my ultrasound was super unprofessional. And their machine is crappy, too. Spend more than 30 Minutes to do the ultrasound, because the women who's doing it was super unprofessional, she pressed super hard with a super slow speed because she have to take photos. They even forgot to do my blood test. But after all that unprofessional ultrasound process I decided to leave. Unbelievable. The doctor was really nice. Just the other health assistance could be much better.

My experience was great! I was seen quickly, I filled out the paperwork online so it was easy to check in, and everyone who worked there was cool. Also pluses: they're open on Saturdays. Clutch. And there's a lab upstairs, so you don't have to go somewhere else to get the heavy duty bloodwork. (I just went for a prescription refill with a new doctor)

The most thorough physical exam I've ever had, which is appreciated as I have not had a number of the tests performed prior. Be sure you clear out a couple hours.

I liked Dr. Peters' straightforward and efficient manner, but found it odd that she recommended I see a skin specialist when I don't have active skin problems. I also found it strange that the medical practitioner who took my vitals only asked and didn't bother to actually measure my height and weight.

She didn't listen to me, didn't seem to care about anything I was telling her, didn't answer any of my questions, just told me to get a blood test, then didn't tell me the results of the blood test. Made me feel awful.

I thought it was terribly disorganized and unprofessional. While everyone was friendly, I was completely in the dark the whole visit wondering what was going on, who was involved and what would happen next. There seemed to be a lot of people learning but no one seemed totally confident in what they were doing. During my allergy test there were constant knocks on the door and people coming in and out of the room while I was laying there half-clothed. It was a very anxiety provoking experience.

They did not call me with my test results until two weeks after they had received them. It would have been nice to know the test results when they got them. When they called me, they did not want to send me the real test results. Only sent me a sentence saying "probable" illnesses. Not helpful at all. Do not recommend.

I meet with one of the other doctors in her office. But the staff and Doctor were really nice. The great part was that all of my paperwork was completed and in the office before I arrived in the office. The only draw back is that the office is a little far on the east side and takes about 20 mins walking from Macy's.

Dr. Peters was very nice, short, sweet and too the point. I will definitely go back for her. However, the front desk had be wait over 45 minutes to be seen because they didn't have my paperwork set. I had to go to the desk several times just to have an answer on timing. A fifteen minute appointment turned into an hour
