Qualifications and Experience
Dr. Naig is an adult psychiatrist. Consistent with the philosophy of Happier Living Dr. Naig believes that
while not every client may require or benefit from psychotropic medication, every client benefits from
therapy. This perspective influences his practice style.
Dr. Naig completed his undergraduate training at University of Mumbai- India where he double majored
in Microbiology and Biochemistry. He completed his PhD training in Microbial Physiology and several
years of postdoctoral training in the areas of Molecular Microbiology and Oncology. He has several peer
publications to his credit in prestigious journals such as Molecular Cell and Oncogene.
Dr. Naig completed the MD program from Tufts, University in Boston. His intern year of residency was at
Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The subsequent years of his adult
psychiatry residency was performed at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. In
addition to clinical work, he has co authored a chapter on Persistent Depressive disorder (Dysthymia) in
the Johns Hopkins Psychiatry Guide for Unbound medicine, an award winning medical, nursing and
pharmacy online application.
Dr. Naig believes firmly in the bio-psycho-social model of treatment incorporating the collaborative,
collegial, multi-disciplinary care that is included in the vision of the Genen group. Dr. Naig’s emphasizes
a four-perspective approach to client care- the life story as in where the client is in his/her life, the
personality as in who she/he is as a person, the behavior as in how the client deals with her/his issues
and finally the disease as in what the person has. He believes in the combined power of medications and
targeted talk therapy to bring about lasting change.
