About Dr. Teresa Chan
Dr. Teresa Chan has been providing primary care to a diverse patient population in the Lower East Side for nearly 15 years. She speaks fluent Cantonese and Spanish. She believes in providing holistic, compassionate care that is culturally sensitive.
For her undergraduate degree, Dr. Chan attended Rensselaer Polytechnic institute, completing a degree in biology as part of a 6-year-accelerated biomedical program. This program continued at Albany Medical College, where Dr. Chan completed her medical degree. Dr. Chan then came back downstate to the Beth Israel Medical Center, where she did her residency training in urban family practice and was chief resident in her final year there.
Dr. Chan has been affiliated with Beth Israel Medical Center since her residency days and holds certification from the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dr. Chan's philosophy of care: "As a primary care family physician, my role is not only to provide guidance for my patients in order to be healthy in body, mind and spirit, but also to be my patients' advocate and partner to help and support them to achieve their health, wellness and life goals."
