At Stahl, I felt uncared for and abused. During LASIK surgery, I endured excruciating pain because the technician who administeredanesthetic drops failed to do so correctly. I explained to her that she put them on my eyelids due to my blinking, and not in my eye. She stated, “the drops went in.” She did not care to assess the matter and continued to rush. At this point seconds before my Lasik operation, I was too anxious to continue advocating for myself and arguing with her. The staff member responsible for escorting me out of the clinic to the cab allowed me to walk into the glass door. She too was rushing and not helping me. I had just had surgery a few minutes prior, blurry vision, 10/10 pain, and photosensitivity. When I walked into the door, she responded, “Oops.” She was apathetic to my safety and pain. During my follow-ups, I felt scared to tell my post-op complications to Dr. Hufnagel because he became irritated and impatient. At one appointment, I stated I had no complaints and Dr. Hufnagel responded, “Wow, you have no complaints? That’s unusual and surprising for you.” When I contacted Linda Hewitt, the Stahl coordinator, she abusively yelled at me on the phone, accused me of lying about my patient experience with Stahl, and stated that everything I told her never happened to me. Linda Hewitt was absent on my surgery day, and was never there to witness what happened to me. Linda Hewitt, go look back at the camera tapes on my surgery day to see that those events really occurred.

I was a new patient so I had insurance papers to fill out, but it seems like they were on schedule and called patients in on time. Loved the entire staff and the doctor was wonderful. He explained everything he was doing and made sure I understood what was wrong with my eye. Great bedside manner as well. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hufnagel.

Dr. Hufnagel was recommended to me by my husband. Dr. Hufnagel and his staff were extremely attentive to my needs and the doctor took his time to explain everything to me from start to finish. He has a wonderful personality he did make me laugh and one of his assistant's was helpful and patient when I picked out frames for my reading glasses. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Hufnagel. It was a great experience on my first visit.

Excellent experience with Dr. Hufnagel. I don't ever want to switch. He caught something another eye doctor I saw somewhere else didn't. Dr. Hufnagel is experienced and truly cares to find out what your eye problem is.

Dr. Hufnagel is a straight shooter and I like that the most about him. I sustained an eye injury and he answered all of my questions very thoroughly. I had a 100% recovery. I recommend him to anyone seeking professional assistance re: their eyes.

I was very comfortable in the office. Reception staff seemed nice. Dr. Hufnagel was pretty friendly and engaging. He asked about my family history and was very honest in recommending how often I should come back for an eye exam. I will most likely go back to him again.

Great experience. Everyone I interacted with was really nice, especially the man who did my initial eye exam, who cheered me on as I struggled to read the letters like always. I appreciated that! Dr. Hufnagel himself was somewhat paternalistic, which I know some people don't like, but he seemed very knowledgeable and helped me create a plan for treating my dry eye.

The physician's assistant I saw was extremely helpful, and had great bedside manner - I am extremely nervous about things near my eyes and he made me feel very comfortable. The rest of the staff was kind, although one of the receptionists kept making little mistakes and was extremely combative when the other receptionist tried to help her. As a patient, that was a little disconcerting, although hardly relevant to the care I received once I was in office.

Minimal wait time, staff was courteous and called my insurance to determine what were my best option in terms of coverage/copay etc. Doctor was nice but really brief. The optician who did my exam, Galo Andrade was very throughout, knowledgeable, patient and really nice at explaining the various tests and results. I recommend him without any reservations

I was a little disappointed about my visit to Stahl Eyecare. I had completed all of my new patient paperwork ahead of time and arrived at the office 15 minutes before my 11:00 appointment. I was not seen until after 11:30. The first person who saw me was a female (nurse?) who did not introduce herself. She was wearing a very fragrant lotion or perfume and did not wash her hands before touching my face - which is crazy to me in the height of cold/flu season in NYC! Then I saw Galo, the contact specialist, who was very friendly and immediately helped recognize that my eyes may have an allergic reaction to the solution that I've been using (for the past 17 years!) - so he suggested I try another. He had the nicest 'bedside manner' and was very pleasant. Then while I was waiting for my pupils to dilate it was suggested that I "look" at glasses. I couldn't see a thing without my contacts in and the woman helping me was very nice, but it seemed I could not be seen by Dr. Hufnagel until I completed my eyeglass purchase. I said I needed to get back to work and would prefer to be seen by the doctor than purchase glasses, but I was encouraged to complete my purchase first. I did not see Dr. Hufnagel until 1:00 - 2 hours after my original appointment time! He did a quick check and while he was looking at my eyes he asked if I'd ever considered LASIK. When I said I'd thought about it but had some hesitations and wanted to wait a while, his warmth disappeared and he completed the exam in a perfunctory manner. If I ever return to Stahl it would be to see Galo, but I'm not sure I'd recommend Dr. Hufnagel.

It was great. The only problem was I wasn't in their system to have an appointment at that time so it was a 40 minute wait. I don't know if that's ZocDoc's fault or theirs--but either way, they helped me as soon as they could and Dr. Hufnagel is a great doctor.

Dr. Hufnagle was very nice and professional. Most of my treatment, as it was related to contact lenses, was handled by the optometrist who was also very nice and informative on my condition. The doctor followed up with an additional eye exam so I felt that I was well cared for over the entire visit. Overall I was very pleased with the practice and everyone I interacted with.

Nearly an hour wait, and had a very short interaction with the doctor which consisted of a very brief examination and the proclamation that "I don't see anything wrong." Don't get me wrong. I was glad to hear that my eye was fine, but I would have felt better if I would have had some explanation for the stinging pain I'd been feeling for a day.
