Yemi Famuyiwa knows that motherhood is the greatest gift she gives her infertility patients, but she’s also careful to encourage them to think outside the box
in that regard.
“We help people become mothers, but I tell my patients that motherhood is a state of mind,” she says. “You don’t have to deliver a baby to be nurturing to a child or be a role model to a teenager.”
A magna cum laude graduate of Kent State University, Famuyiwa earned her medical degree from Emory University; completed a residency at Georgetown, and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at NIH before launching her practice.
“Being a mother is a very, very important role,” says the doctor, who is the mother of three children. “The title of ‘mother’ is the most important title I have behind my name.”
