Dr. Goel is a Double Board-Certified Psychiatrist and a native of California. He truly cares about his patients. Dr. Goel is a knowledgeable and experienced psychopharmacologist who specializes in medication management. He stays up to date with the most current research. He has a broad range of diversified experience. His philosophy is to use the minimal amount of medication necessary to achieve the desired result. Appointment and Medication Policies Benzodiazepines: When appropriate, we prescribe a maximum of 10 tablets per month of a low-dosage Benzodiazepine (Ativan/ Lorazepam, Klonopin/ Clonazepam, Xanax/ Alprazolam). We do not wean patients down from Benzodiazepines. We will be unable to accept you as a patient if you are taking more than 10 tablets per month of a Benzodiazepine. Stimulants: When appropriate, we prescribe a maximum of 20 pills per month. These are the maximum dosages we will prescribe for the following medications: Adderall 20mg, Vyvanse 40mg, Concerta 36mg. We do not wean patients down from higher doses of Stimulants. We will be unable to accept you as a patient if you are taking higher dosages of Stimulants. Disability: We do not make recommendations or complete paperwork for short-term or long-term disability. We do not do disability assessments. Medication Management: Our practice focuses on the diagnosis and medication management only (not psychotherapy). Initial Appointments are 30 minutes and Follow-Up Appointments are 15 minutes. We do not do any one-time appointment evaluations. (for ADHD, Psychiatric Clearance, Return to Work, etc) He accepts Cigna, Anthem Blue Cross, and Aetna. He does not accept Medi-Cal or Medicare from any insurance carrier. Dr. Goel offers video appointments as well. Experience: -conducted Psychiatric research at UC San Diego -provided care for Veterans with mental illness at the VA Hospital in Washington DC -managed acute psychiatric care for a busy Psychiatric ER and Inpatient Unit in Kansas -treated Child and Adolescent psychiatric patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting at a top research-based hospital in Ohio -led a team of mental health professionals in treating patients with severe mental illness at at a Community Mental Health Center in Ohio -administered psychiatric care for persistently mentally ill patients at one of the most underserved hospitals in New York City -established a very successful private practice in NYC -provided care for mentally ill inmates at a maximum security prison in California -currently providing care for patients in San Francisco
