David Castro, LCSW
I am a psychotherapist in private practice currently accepting new patients. I have both evening and weekend (including Sunday) appointments available. My practice is located on the Upper East Side of New York City and I specialize in anxiety, treatment of chronic pain and anxiety/panic, addictions, developmental / life transitions, and couples psychotherapy. I have over fifteen years of clinical experience. If, during the initial free phone consult, we discover that it's not a good match, I will work with you to find someone who is able to meet your needs. A bit about my approach to psychotherapy: In mental health treatment, there's a tendency to focus on symptoms (such as sadness, worry, or difficulties concentrating) as if they existed apart from the unique, cultural life circumstances of individuals. These symptoms have distinct meanings for each person, and my approach remains deeply respectful of these meanings and is tailored to the particular struggles and strengths that each person brings to the consultation room. What makes me a good fit for many is my ability to bring to life the internal experience of each individual. Through this approach, I am able to help people live more fulfilled lives, open up new possibilities in relationships, and reduce a great deal of internal suffering.
