Ellen Chang, DPT

Physical Therapist

Professional statement

Ellen Chang, DPT, received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University at Buffalo. She is also a personal trainer that specializes in corrective exercise. Ellen started her career at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and worked on the medical-surgical floor, orthopedic floor, stroke unit, cardiothoracic ICU, and neonatal ICU. She then transitioned to outpatient orthopedics and felt like this was where she was able to truly make a difference in her patients’ quality of life. Ellen believes in looking for the cause of the pain and not just treating the symptoms. She also sees the body as a whole, and treats so that all the parts are working together as they affect each other. Movement is important to start healing and Ellen uses Pilates to create a positive movement experience. She addresses muscle imbalances on the Reformer, and gets the patient out of their incorrect movement patterns that they have developed, which probably led to the injury in the first place. Ellen is currently pursuing the Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy with APTA. She is able to help patients that suffer from urinary incontinence, underactive pelvic floor muscles, and pelvic organ prolapse. Ellen is a Graston Technique Specialist (GTS), and trained in Kinesio Taping and TRX. She has also taken manual courses with North American Institute of Manual Therapy (NAIOMT). She enjoys and continues to take multiple courses every year to further her knowledge. On her free time she enjoys strength training, traveling, trying new restaurants, and being a good dog-mom.

Ellen is very good and professional. But front desk people are Very dishonest. Advertise many open appointments on Zoc Doc and then tell you they are taken (of course after work is all booked). Then they say that they "accept" Aetna. To most people accepting equals an in network provider. NOPE- they "accept" your out of network benefits... which is not accepting anything. Any place can give me a bill to submit to my insurance. Lots of bait and switching- they are intentionally being shady. Say- we do not participate in any insurance programs so that I can make a clear and informed choice about where to go. Not good...

She is very knowledgeable. She explains the what, whys and how to treating my Achilles tendon. I understand how my body is connected and why I need to do exercises on body parts that indirectly and directly affect my injured area.

Professional, supportive, direct, knowledgeable, open, and good energy. Dr. Chang took time with me to explain, to inquire, to assess, and then to go through all of the exercises or stretches with me, all of which I can do easily fromhome. Dr. Chang is a true professional in her field and very attentive to her patients. I would highly recommend Dr. Chang for anyone who is seeking physical therapy.
