Joseph Camisa, DPT
Dr. Joe received his BS in Health Studies with a minor in Clinical Exercise Physiology, as well as his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Boston University. Dr. Joe also works with Parisi Franchise Systems Inc. as member of the Training Advisory Committee & consultant to Bill Parisi, teaching new training research & injury prevention strategies across the Parisi network. He has expanded his knowledge by closely studying the teachings of Dr. Stuart McGill for back injury rehab & prevention, as well as effective & safe sports performance enhancement through proper core training. Dr. Joe has undergone training in functional dry needling, myofascial decompression and IASTM that he uses to facilitate recovery in patients/athletes via its effectiveness with pain management, improving muscle performance and restoring optimal/healthy movement patterns. From Dr. Joe: "I treat the whole patient, by gathering a detailed history of the problem, learning about habitual activities, exercise regimen, postures and positions of the patient that may be contributing factors. I consider the demands of his/her sport or occupation. A bio-mechanical analysis of movement is performed, observing movement strategies and motor control patterns during selected tasks. The examination will include provocative testing to locate the cause and alleviate pain by manipulating positions, postures and loads on the body, as well as expose deficiencies in joint mobility or stability that alter movement. I work with my patients to develop movement strategies to avoid pain and allow the tissue to desensitize. Corrective exercises are given to restore balanced/optimal movement, to improve upon specific impairments and to achieve durability for the patient's desired lifestyle. "
