Psychotherapist

Professional statement

To be alive and human is complex and multi-dimensional. To be alive and human in our modern 21st Century, flush with anxiety inducing stimuli, is to be inundated with a new set of complex challenges to continually face. As a psychodynamically trained relational psychotherapist, I provide a safe, non-judgmental, and empathic environment, in which we can work through those challenges affecting your life. As a therapist, I have extensive and varied experience treating individuals suffering form symptoms of depression and anxiety. I have also focused on working with individuals who are experiencing relationship issues, family and other interpersonal difficulties, and professional issues. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with the special challenges that affect creative and artistic professionals (i.e. designers, actors, writers, directors, musicians, visual artists, and dancers). Having become a psychotherapist after a professional career in the arts, I am especially attuned to the unique challenges that face these individuals. During the psychotherapeutic journey we will examine the past as a way to better understand your present self. Often, by developing insight into how our personality and behavioral patterns developed, we can more fully identify the root of our present challenges, leading to more positive outcomes. These newly developed insights will help you become more attuned to, and in tune with, your truest self. Together, we will examine both the behavioral patterns and systemic hurdles in your life that you feel are holding you back from living the life you most want to live.

Josh is a terrific therapist. He has a very warm and nurturing personality, which really helped me open up. I'd see other therapists in the past who made it harder for me to be open & honest with myself, but Josh made me feel comfortable immediately.

Joshua is very attentive to me. He is able to listen to my worries with a very empathetic ear; while also creating an environment where I felt/feel safe to share my challenging daily moments. When I first came to see thistherapist he absorbed my personal history and has helped me to apply it to my future concerns.

Josh made me feel safe enough to open up and work through a trauma in my past that I have never been able to discuss with anyone before. Because he is non-judgemental and kind. He was easy to open up to.

Josh was not only empathetic in regards to my personal issues, but also insightful and very helpful to me personally. I've been in sessions with counselors where they just agree, and don't offer much beyond that, but Josh was able toclearly explain a new perspective on things I was not aware of. He has helped me understand more about myself, which has led to positive change in my life.
