About Nick Helbich
*Location is on 6th ave between 10th and 11th street* I work with individuals, couples and families. I am a licensed clinical psychotherapist. I am a gentle person who will listen to your problems and focus on getting to the underlying cause of your problem, help you to gain a new and more positive attitude in life, and to create a safe and secure environment for you. If you are a German or French speaker, we can communicate in your mother tongue. I believe that strong therapeutic relationships can create healing and generate the ability to change. My approach is eclectic. This means I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches. I work with a variety of symptoms including: anxiety, depression, obsessions and compulsions (OCD), eating disorders, addictive disorders, codependency and trauma. I also work with clients who have been diagnosed with: bi-polar disorder, psychotic disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and various dissociative disorders, as well as relationship-, sexual- and work- related issues. I am especially understanding and successful working with members of the LGBTQ community. I also specialize in working with clients who suffer from trauma and substance abuse issues. My purpose is to create a safe environment where clients can access and express painful and angry feelings.

Patient reviews for Nick Helbich, LCSW, PhD, MA
Words can't express my gratitude for him. I'm totally blown away by his compassion, attentiveness, kindness and understanding. Very thorough. I'm so lucky I found him. Truly thankful I'm working with him to resolve my issues. I look forward to moving in a positive direction with his help!
Dr. Nick was very approachable. I was a little nervous about talking to a therapist but he made me feel very at ease very quickly. I look forward to continuing to work with him.
My first appointment with Nick was unique in the sense that I was in the midst of a minor personal crisis. He was extraordinary. Calming, welcoming, and engaging. Very personal and caring touch without any judgmental comments, glares, or opinions (which was important to me because he has no prior knowledge of me as a person). I look forward to a long relationship with Nick.
Dr. Nick is a wonderful therapist. He was recommended to me by a friend (who spoke highly of him for both individual and couples therapy), and I've now worked with him in couples therapy for the past three years. He is a kind, sensitive, and thoughtful man who has a gentle yet active/direct approach. He creates a safe and non-judgmental environment to explore feelings and challenging subjects, and his insight and support have helped me and my boyfriend cultivate deeper intimacy and develop tools and strategies to work through conflicts (in and out of the sessions). He's been extremely helpful working through issues related to anxiety, work, money, and sex. He also has a great sense of humor, which I appreciate. I've recommended Dr. Nick to a few friends (for couples and individual therapy) and I've heard positive feedback from them about their experiences. Although finding a good therapist is a highly subjective process - not a "one good therapist suits all" situation - highly recommend exploring working with Dr Nick.
Dr. Helbich is warm and kind, I immediately felt at ease. I have seen three other therapists who were either distant or judgmental. I highly recommend Dr. Helbich, and continue seeing him.
