Getting to know Tyler Nieves

I became a psychiatric provider because I’ve seen the profound impact that compassionate, affirming mental health care can have on someone’s life. I wanted to be in a position where I could truly listen, understand, and help people feel supported in navigating whatever challenges they’re facing. As both a veteran and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’ve experienced how important it is to have a provider who respects your identity, values, and unique life story. My passion for integrative psychiatry allows me to combine traditional treatments with holistic approaches, creating care plans that address the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. For me, this work is about walking alongside people on their journey toward greater well-being and helping them thrive.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My first priority is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you feel comfortable sharing openly. I’ll take the time to listen—not just to the words you say, but to the emotions and experiences behind them. I’ll ask questions to understand your perspective, check in to make sure I’m hearing you accurately, and welcome your feedback at every step. Our work will be a collaboration, meaning we’ll make decisions together about your care and adjust the plan based on what feels right for you. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling truly heard, respected, and confident in the decision making process for your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Working together means we’ll approach your care as a partnership. In our first sessions, I’ll focus on getting to know you—your history, values, goals, and what’s most important to you right now. I’ll be transparent about my role, what I can offer, and how different treatment options work, so you always know what to expect. Building trust takes time, and I respect that. I’ll follow through on my commitments, keep our conversations confidential, and create a consistent, reliable space where you can share honestly without fear of judgment. I’ll also check in regularly to make sure our work feels aligned with your needs, adjusting as we go. My goal is for you to feel supported, respected, and truly partnered with throughout your care.
