Getting to know Jo Anna Evans
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) working virtually with Foresight clients anywhere in California. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy University, with a specialization in Holistic Medicine. I specialize in helping teens, adults, and older adults cope with anxiety and depression, grief, death, and terminal illness. I also support clients recovering from divorce and assist caregivers and athletes in managing their unique challenges. My approach to treatment is eclectic, drawing on client-centered, strength-based, and mindfulness practices. I bring a nurturing, warm presence and embrace a broad, open philosophy regarding life and its challenges.
Coping with jobs, children, school, family, or life changes can be scary, and admitting you need help can be difficult. Together, we can find a path that works for you—helping you understand how to manage anxiety, process overwhelming grief and sadness, break unhelpful patterns, feel more empowered, reconnect with the part of you that was once strong and happy, and make decisions about difficult life issues. Together, we will find the best path to a solution.
My attraction to therapy grew from my own experience recovering from a difficult divorce and raising a child with childhood-onset bipolar disorder. Therapy benefited me greatly, and I realized I wanted to offer the same support to others facing similar struggles.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I approach therapy with a new client without an agenda. I meet my client where they are in the moment without judgement and with the ability to understand and share their feelings.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
I believe that I build trust and alliance with clients by not coming into session with an agenda and meeting them where they're at without bias.

Jo has been my saving grace over the past few years. She got me through my Dad's passing and 2 years of cancer treatments. She knows me so well and is truly invested in my life and well being. I trust her whole heartedly. I have been in therapy since I was 6 years old and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, Jo is the best therapist I've ever had.
