Getting to know Mirtha Alvarez
I am a bilingual clinician at Foresight Mental Health San Antonio. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University (TAMU). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been in the mental health field since 2017. I acquired my clinical skills in a variety of mental health settings including a social service organization, behavioral health hospital (inpatient and outpatient), a community health clinic, and my present position at Foresight Mental Health. I have a passion for working with adolescents and young adults, and enjoy helping them navigate the struggles they face in adjusting to adult life and taking on new roles. I have clinical experience in a wide range of areas, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, pregnancy/motherhood issues, stress management, grief, and trauma. My overall counseling style is client-centered and holistic; I allow my clients room to form their own goals in order to help provide them with the tools to live a more fulfilling and joyful life.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I recognize the difficulty in talking to a stranger about intimate and personal topics, and I acknowledge the strength that it takes to freely discuss these events in an open manner. I provide an open space, where clients feel at ease sharing their lives in a confidential setting.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
It is well researched that a successful therapy outcome is highly linked to a positive therapeutic rapport. I strive to make you feel safe, heard, respected, and valued. I am aware of the complexities life brings and the many paths it can take, both positive and negative, my hope is that while in my care, I provide you with a reliable safe space to further develop your personal growth.
