Getting to know Wayne (Doc) Wilson
Aloha! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with many years’ experience providing psychotherapy to diverse populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I live in Oregon and am licensed in Oregon, Hawaii, and California. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Hawai‘i Pacific University and love developing trusting rapport with patients from all different cultures and backgrounds. While I offer a patient-centered approach to each individual, I especially enjoy helping families and groups who may be struggling with issues such as Addiction, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia. I am known for my empathy, encouragement, and gentle humor in supporting patients as we explore new thoughts and behaviors. I believe each person has the right to be heard in a safe, non-judgmental manner, and I have found that utilizing various therapy modalities tailored to the individual has been very successful in helping patients reach their highest potential. I am especially versed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and other collaborative approaches that empower people to overcome the effects of Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Depression, and relationship challenges. You are not alone. I look forward to hearing from you!
What should a new client know about working with you?
I love using my empathy and therapuetic ear to really listen and discern what is being communicated.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Trust is paramount. I recognize that being in therapy asks people to be open, and thus vulnerable.
