About Lauren Whalen
Currently a full-time clinician in a large allergy, asthma, and immunology practice, I work independently under the supervision of a board-certified allergist, treating patients of all ages. I specialize in childhood food allergies and am an integral part of the practice's oral immunotherapy program. I also consult on and manage the care of patients with environmental allergies, medication allergies, asthma, and immune disorders. This includes overseeing sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapy. I perform in-office oral challenges, desensitization procedures, and treat allergic reactions of all severities. I hold a Master's in Physician Assistant Studies from St. John's University and a Bachelor's degree from the University at Albany.

This provider was extremely unprofessional. She did not listen to my concerns or take my questions seriously. I wanted to know why certain allergy tests weren't offered by another awful allergist I was seeing and she questioned me back. First of all, this is my care not yours. Secondly, if a patient asks you why, that shows they are engaged and advocating for their treatment you're being paid to assist them with. I'm tired of providers acting like they know it all and aren't willing to set their egos aside and admit that some patients do research and learn what's up to date. Most providers don't have to continue educating themselves or learning new things. That's not helpful for anyone. Every single person and medical situation isn't the same.
