About Alicia Scherba
Alicia Scherba is a board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She has had extensive dermatological training and truly understands the importance of prevention, treatment, and procedural correction of various skin diseases including cancer, autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, acne, scars, infections, cysts, lipomas, as well as the use of minimally invasive laser technologies for cosmetic purposes.
Additional surgical and clinical training at California Skin Institute has further developed her passion for the nuanced detection of skin cancer, and the various treatment modalities available for each individual. Her ethos is simple—provide personalized and up to date evidence-based medicine for each of her patients.
Alicia received her Master of Science in Nursing from Samuel Merritt University and was nominated to be a graduate student instructor for medical and surgical tactile procedures. It was during this time that she realized the importance of skin, how uniquely different each person’s skin type is, and that dermatology was her calling. During her education, she furthered her procedural skills working as an RN in various dermatological and ophthalmological surgical and medical settings, and learned the importance of a steady hand and a compassionate heart.
Prior to Samuel Merritt University, Alicia was the valedictorian of her high school and was awarded a competitive full ride scholarship to attend the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Environmental Biology. During her time at UC Berkeley, she performed research on climate change dynamics at the prestigious Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Afterwards, she briefly went on to a career in the technology sector, focusing on data analytics.

The front office experience wasn’t great. Longer wait than I expected and the ipad history I had to fill out wasn’t accurate at all. That is, I am an RN and found it difficult to find my history items in the choices. No place for glaucoma or NonHodgkins Lymphoma, well, the ipad choices certainly need improvement and the poor front office workers seemed very stressed and not tremendously friendly.
Alicia and Morgan, on the other hand were unbelievably efficient and professional and friendly. I’m very impressed with the medical part of my visit.

The office is nice, staff nice, care good. The only thing is didn't like is the redundancy of forms because I was asked to download insurance and answer questions, then had to answer the same questions at the office. I chose not to check in online because I still think this is too much digital information and private.

Office didn’t know about my appointment and didn’t see me. They mentioned they don’t look at zocdoc appointments and want patients to call office directly to secure appointments.
As a patient, I am not sure why I would use zocdoc if it’s not helping me book appointments

Had a great experience! She was very knowledgeable and patient with my questions. She explained all unknown information to me, listening and offering skincare product advice. She also noticed and spent time acknowledging an item not listed on my initial intake form, making sure all of my skin needs were addressed.
