About Dr. David Nieves

Dr. Nieves is a board-certified dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group. He practices medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. He practices all aspects of dermatology and treats skin cancer, psoriasis, eczema, acne, moles, warts, skin infections and vitiligo. He is interested in skin allergy and offers patch testing to identify the underlying sources of allergic rashes. He also offers a range of treatments for patients with severe sweating, known as hyperhidrosis. Dr. Nieves has served as a clinical investigator in more than 80 clinical trials to evaluate new dermatological treatments. Dr. Nieves performs a range of cosmetic enhancement procedures. He treats unwanted wrinkles with Botox and Juvederm and uses lasers to eliminate unwanted hair and reduce facial redness, blemishes and wrinkles. He offers Morpheus8 radiofrequency microneedling and Sofwave ultrasound energy treatments for skin tightening and acne scars. Dr. Nieves has served as Section Chief for dermatology at PennMedicine Princeton Health since 2016.

This was my first time at this office, 2 stars based on the fact that I waited 40mins passed my appointment time be called into a room. Once the doctor arrived, he spend less than 5mins examining and diagnosing me. He rushed and walked out of the room mid-sentence while I still had a lot of questions about treatment and next steps. Being in the medical field and knowing I was postpartum and shocked by my diagnosis, the empathy was not there. It was here’s what you have then good luck figuring it out. If he had to rush through my appointment, then I would have appreciated if he mentioned it upfront. I had to call back a few times after the appointment to clarify everything when he could have provided the information while I was there. The experience made me cry in the parking lot as I felt that the care was not given properly. Regardless of limited time or how small or big the diagnosis is, any patient deserves the time and appropriate treatment during their time of appointment.

I was seen on 1/16 for the sole purpose of refilling my continued prescription and it is now 1/20 and I am being told by my insurance that they cannot refill my prescription because it was never sent in. Now I have to try and reach someone to expedite this so I can get it on time

The doctor did not ask questions or anything related to the patient skin issues. Also when my son was crying and the expression the doctor expressed was not that good sign. Knowing that the patient is just 15months should be prepared for those unknowns

The doctor seemed good but he barely looked at me and certainly didn’t look closely at my skin even though I was there for a dermatology appointment. I will try the medication he recommended but I would feel more confident if he’d spent more than 5 minutes in the room and actually did an exam.

Doctor Nieves is a beautiful person. He is a knowledgeable and sincere doctor who inspires trust. He has a great smile, and he is patient, making patients very comfortable. His assistance is also very kind and knowledgeable. I love the practice because it is a one-stop shop. Everything I need for my face, except surgery, is available. I even got a recommendation for a surgeon. Making the appointment was easy, and the check-in process was prompt. The only feedback I would provide is that they should inform patients before the appointment that there is an available ramp to get into the office. I was not aware and went down two flights of stairs even my ankle was hurting.
Appointment started with him walking in and touching my child’s face without visibly washing or sanitizing his hands. Ewww. Dr. Was in room for less than 10 minutes. I know it’s a busy practice but making patients feel like they are a bother does not reflect positively on the patient experience. Would not recommend.

It’s hard for me to put into words the impact Dr. Nieves has had on my life. He’s treated me for psoriasis and every other teenage ailment since I was a child. I did light treatments weekly. He fought tooth and nail with insurance for me to get on biologics as soon as they became available, even though I was young, & I can’t even explain the QOL update this has given me for the past almost 20 years. I recently visited my hometown and stopped in for an appointment and it was the first time I felt seen, heard & cared about in a derm appointment since I moved away over ten years ago :’) In this next stage of life, I asked what I can do for anti-aging and instead of “yes”-ing every expensive treatment I mentioned, he told me I didn’t need any of it. I could get a couple units of Botox if I wanted but that’s it ?? So thank you, Dr. Nieves, from the bottom of my heart, for years of careful and caring treatment. It was so nice to see you today! I’m so freaking grateful for this doctor!!

I came in for a skin cancer screening and check up after having a pre-cancerous mole removed years ago. Dr. Nieves was nice, and seemed knowledgable, but seemed very rushed. My entire check and appointment, including removing another mole was about 20 minutes long.
The doctor unfortunately did not spend more than 30 seconds to listen to my concerns and was ready to prescribe the medication. A bit disappointed after waiting for more than 30 minutes.

I had to wait for 30 mins for my appointment, even though I came 10 mins earlier. One of the front desk personnel was rude (might be having a bad day)
Dr Nieves spent less than 2 minutes with me. He did not listen to my history, which would have revealed my condition. He misidentified my condition and gave me incorrect treatment. I advise you to go to a different dermatologist. He does not care about his patients and does not provide quality treatment.

Dr Nieve was pleasant, calm and professional. He addressed my questions. His exam was quick. I spent 10 minutes with his assistant for basic background heath info and about 10-15 minutes with the doctor. I went in, not only for a full body scan, but also to examine specific issues. He was both quick and thorough as he paid special attention to each issue I identified. He not only told me that each issue was of no concern, he provided the medical name for each, indicating to me that he looked at it carefully. The nurse assistant noted each, its location on my body and the clinical name. Very stress free, comfortable exam.
