About Dr. Shelley Uppal
Dr. Shelley Uppal is a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in medical, surgical, cosmetic, and procedural dermatology.
She combines a strong academic and research background with advanced clinical training to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care tailored to each individual’s goals and skin health.
Dr. Uppal completed the combined Physician-Scientist BS/MD program through Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Albany Medical College, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earning her medical degree with Distinction in Research. She subsequently completed a research fellowship in the Department of Dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where she participated in clinical trials and investigator-initiated research across a broad range of dermatologic conditions.
She completed her dermatology residency at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, Florida, where she served as Cosmetics Chief/Coordinator. During residency, she developed a formal laser curriculum incorporating both didactic education and hands-on procedural training for dermatology residents.
In clinical practice, Dr. Uppal provides comprehensive medical and cosmetic dermatologic care. Her clinical interests include inflammatory and complex skin diseases, skin of color dermatology, cosmetic injectables, laser and energy-based devices, regenerative aesthetics, and evidence-based approaches to improving both skin health and appearance. She is committed to developing individualized treatment plans that achieve natural, long-lasting results.
Dr. Uppal has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed publications and multiple textbook chapters and has presented her research at national dermatology meetings, including the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Annual Meeting and the Florida Academic Dermatology Meeting.
