About Dr. David Ciocon

Dr. David Ciocon received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University (cum laude) and his M.D. from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed three years of a combined general and plastic surgery residency training at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital and a one-year clinical research fellowship in psoriasis at Harvard University, Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He completed his dermatology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident and recipient of the Leo M. Davidoff Award for Excellence in Teaching. He completed Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology fellowship at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey under the guidance of Dr. David Goldberg. He has co-authored numerous articles and chapters in the fields of psoriasis, nail disorders, and surgical and non-surgical approaches to cosmetic rejuvenation. A board certified dermatologist, Dr. Ciocon is licensed in New Jersey and New York. He is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. He is a member the American College of Mohs Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. He is currently the Director of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Procedural Dermatology at the Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ciocon is on the medical staff of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey and Montefiore Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. His clinical interests include Mohs Micrographic surgery, facial reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, laser-assisted tumescent liposuction, autologous fat transfer, laser medicine and minimally invasive cosmetic dermatology.

It was a very fast appointment. I felt he did a thorough body check. Both the Doctor and assistant were very professional & polite. However, he did not do a good job of explaining what was found and how to manage aftercare/follow up info. He was also very curt when asking about general aging questions. I guess it goes into a different insurance category or something, but he never even gave an option of continuing conversation. I felt overwhelmingly rushed and unprepared for aftercare.
I’m very happy. Great bedside manner, saw my face and immediately said of you can take Antibiotics and that will clear up immediately. Called in my RX with no issues. I was in snd out right away.

Had a couple of moles surgically removed, and the procedure left some pretty ugly scarring. The sutures and wound closure was not done in a good manner, and I'm left with some pretty bad scars. Will not go back.

Dr. Ciocon is like a breath of fresh air! I've seen several dermatologists in the past few years, and none have been as sincere and caring. He had several appointments going on around the same time, but he took the time to sit and get to know me, my background, and my challenges. He listened so intently and, instead of just spouting off his prescription right away, he worked through it with me to find a regimen that I felt comfortable with. Then he even typed out the instructions and gave me a print out so I couldn't mess it up! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, he spent a while longer with me answering my request for recommendations on products and cosmetics that I haven't found favorites of yet. (And it doesn't hurt that the office is 100 yards from Sephora). All in all, great appointment. I've never felt so satisfied and hopeful leaving a derm office before. :)
Friendly and sociable doctor. Wait time, however, is a different story. Wouldn't be surprised if they double booked. Never have had an appointment start on time despite always arriving early or at least on time. In addition, similar to other reviewers, he probably spent less than 10 minutes with me vs the 30+ that I waited. Bottom line? I would probably recommend him just purely for the fact that he's a nice and friendly doctor but if you're looking for someone who will spend more time with you, perhaps look elsewhere.

I was late for my appointment by 20 minutes so i can not blame them for not taking me in right away.The Doctor was very professional and was very nice. He answered all my questions and even when the exam was done and he was walking out the door, I asked him for some more of his time for some questions and he sat back down without hesitation and gave me his full attention Office staff was very helpfully. If you have ever been to a dermatologist you should know its usually at 5-10 min. exam. I have been to many dermatologists and its the same across the board. Don't be discouraged by this. Have all your questions memorized so at least you don't get home and say "Dam I forgot to ask the doctor..............."
