About Dr. Christina Chung
Christina Lee Chung, MD, FAAD is a board-certified dermatologist treating all types of skin issues in adults and children. Dr. Chung is an expert in cutaneous oncology – the practice of recognizing skin cancer early and preventing, treating, and understanding the science behind it. Formerly the Director of the Drexel Dermatology Center for Transplant Patients, her clinical practice and research focus on skin cancer and disease that develops in high-risk organ transplant recipients, immunosuppressed patients, and the general population. As a leader and pioneer in her field, Dr. Chung has a specific interest in skin cancer that arises in nonwhite organ transplant patients and has published groundbreaking papers on this topic. Dr. Chung has spoken about her work throughout the United States and Europe and is nationally and internationally recognized for her efforts to identify risk factors that contribute to skin cancer occurrence in this population.
She holds a B.A. in Spanish from Amherst College with foreign study at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with extensive education in the fine arts at Llotja Escola d’ Art in Barcelona and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She received her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine and completed her residency in dermatology at Drexel University College of Medicine.
In addition to her extensive work with organ transplant patients, Dr. Chung is also actively engaged in aging research. She is an inventor and primary investigator in the study of a novel topical formulation to prevent and treat age-related changes in the skin.

I didn’t care for my experience as a first time client. I was attracted to the fact that Dr. Chung has skin of color as a part of her areas of focus. However, my visit couldn’t have been any more unpleasant. The receptionist and supportive staff were all very kind, let me say that. The facility was also very cleanly and easily accessible. My visit didn’t consist of any sort of examination. I was rushed from the moment the doctor stepped into the door. My recommendations were generalized and things like “ all people of color do this” or “ when this happens people of color almost always do that” nothing was specific to my areas of concern. The doctor didn’t take a look thoroughly at my skin identify the type of skin I have. Didn’t assess any of my problem areas on my body. Addresses my hair loss concerns very generally. I couldn’t have been more displeased my visit was far from thorough and lacked bedside manners. Basically felt like “take two and call me in the morning.” 2/10!

she absolutely destroyed my skin. I came in wanting to get rid of a couple recurring cystic acne spots on my jawline. she prescribed tretinoin despite me telling her i’d tried it before and it didn’t work for me and broke me out more. she told me to try it again anyway. she said the purge that is typical for tretinoin where you breakout more initially before it calms down would be over in about 2 months. I was on it for 6 months, hoping it would get better any day now, and it ruined my skin. my cheeks and jaw now have pigmented acne scarring from the acne the tretinoin caused and i was having active breakouts up until i stopped the tretinoin at my own judgment a month ago and even so, my skin looks the worst it’s been since high school. i feel so frustrated that she didn’t listen to me and as a result I’m worse off than i was before i saw her. she also recommended i double the dose of a medication i’ve been on for years without any issue that should help minimize the purge breakout but neglected to mention that one of the potential side effects of the higher dose is low blood pressure and dizziness which i experienced at work and almost passed out without knowing to expect it may happen. at my follow up visit she not only recommended accutane which seems like a very intense drug compared to my situation, she also mentioned i could try differin WHICH IS A MEDICATION I ASKED HER ABOUT USING AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT AND SHE TOLD ME IT WAS INEFFECTIVE. my self esteem has been shattered and it’s directly related to her negligence and inability to listen to her patients.

The visit with the Doctor was less than 10 minutes. I shared information with the MA, who did a thorough intake prior to the physician entering the room. Then when I discussed my issue with the physician, it was evident that she had not gotten hand-off from the MA. The physician felt dismissive.

I’m happy I went to Dr. Chung for a second opinion on my hair loss. She had my hormones tested for PCOS, whereas my first dermatologist simply wrote my hair loss off as genetics. Now I know what I’m dealing with and address it from there. Learnt a lot from my visits. Highly recommend.

She was rude and seemed like she was trying to leave the room as soon as possible. My questions and concerns were dismissed and her input greatly differed from previous doctors in such a way that I think she was wrong. She was dismissive and gaslit me into thinking my concern was unnecessary. She prescribed me something and I have no idea what it is or how to use it. I got absolutely no instruction. I left the appointment in pain and feeling belittled. I would never recommend Dr. Chung

The Dermatologist came in, didn't introduce themselves, looked at my skin for half a second from 3 feet away, never used the direct light instrument. They told me that they were going to prescribe me the medicine that I noted (to the nurse) didn't work. I showed them the pictures of my skin from the past months and they diagnosed me with my previous diagnosis that I noted as my reason for the visit (don’t think they read the chart). The doctor said they’d “add on a cream too” and then ran out the door. The wait was over an hour and time with the doctor was less than 3 minutes (Not exaggerating) - if you have a tight schedule I would reconsider. If you prefer feeling like a patient and not a checkbox on a list, I would reconsider. As a whole. the staff were nice. Experience - not so nice.
