About Dr. Dhuha Alhankawi
Dr. Alhankawi received her medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology. After graduating, she finished her residency at Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York and was recognized as the Intern of the Year. At UCSF-Fresno, Dr. Alhankawi pursued her training in gastroenterology, where she served as the co-chief fellow. In addition, she received training in Hepatology and Transplant Hepatology at New York University. She worked in private practice with Sharp before joining United Medical Doctors.
Dr. Alhankawi is committed to her patients. She ensures that all the patient's questions and concerns are answered, and the patient should have a clear action plan by the end of each visit. Dr. Alhankawi is a gastroenterologist who performs upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, push enteroscopy, and capsule endoscopy. FibroScans are also available in office.
Dr. Alhankawi treats various GI conditions, including GERD, peptic ulcer, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, SIBO, and esophageal disease. Additionally, she specializes in treating patients with liver disease, such as fatty liver disease, autoimmune liver disease, primary biliary cholangitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, chronic viral hepatitis, cirrhosis and liver tumors.
Dr. Alhankawi has participated in numerous research projects, given multiple presentations, and published multiple articles related to general GI and hepatology. She is a member of AASLD (American Association for Study of Liver Disease).
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking, and listening to books; she also enjoys painting and traveling.

I am 70 years old and I can think of only 3 doctors I have been treated by that hold a true regard for their patients and it shows. Dr. Alhankawi is one of those doctors. I know she has my health high on her list when I go to her office. She asks questions and actually listens to what I say. Thank you for holding my care in high regard.

Great doctor. She made me feel very comfortable even though the reason for my visit was extremely uncomfortable. She was quick but thorough, and she gave me new approaches and medications that other doctors had not suggested. I feel hopeful after years of chronic issues. Just a note, she seems to order a lot of testing for her patients.

Dr. Alhankawi was great! I chose her at last minute before an overseas trip and was happy to be fit in the same day as a new patient. I was super happy with the visit, and Dr. Alhankawi's attentiveness and bedside manner. She listened, discussed solutions and was very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this doctor!

Dr alhankawi was a breath of fresh air from the previous gastroenterologist. She was very thorough and professional. My situation did not have a clear answer, so I was given several treatment options. She listened well, and appears determined to find an answer to my problems dealing with problems swallowing and digestive issues. Pleased with my visit.

I've been between primary care physicians for a few years & have so far been disappointed, so because of my age I decided to seek out a gastroenterologist on my own. Thank you Copilot for helping me to find this absolute angel ?? who made an intimidating procedure an absolute pleasure...wait times aside. ??
If you want a healthcare provider who is the next best thing to having a literal angel taking care of you, Dr. A. is the one for you! Just stop wasting your time looking elsewhere and lock in RIGHT NOW. You won't regret it. Let's be real, the quality of offices will vary, and wait times can suck, but guess what, this doc is WORTH ANY WAIT.
Not once have I ever felt rushed when talking w/her. She's asked repeatedly if I have any questions, even leaving room for my awkward silences! ?? I've heard people talk about feeling "seen" but never really understood that until having the absolute pleasure of interacting with Dr. A. The world's a better place w/her in it. ??
