About Dr. Liza Plafsky
Dr. Liza Plafsky completed her undergraduate degree in biology at Columbia University in New York City. She subsequently graduated from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and stayed there to complete her internship and residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She then moved to Tampa for her gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South Florida (USF), where she completed most of her training at Tampa General Hospital.
At USF, she received training from specialists in esophageal disorders, motility, small bowel disease, transplant hepatology, pancreaticobiliary disease, and inflammatory bowel disease, giving her a well-rounded background for pursuing a career as a general gastroenterologist.
In addition to becoming a gastroenterologist, Dr. Plafsky has long wanted to move to Southern California. She is looking forward to establishing roots in San Diego. In her free time, she plays tennis, practices yoga, and relaxes at the beach with her family.

I have had a fabulous experience with Dr. Plafsky and just wanted to take the time to share. She was referred to me by my OBGYN Dr. Spring-Robinson, and I couldn't be more grateful to be connected with her. Dr. Plafsky immediately made me feel seen, supported and understood with my health issues and concerns. She took the time to fully answer my many questions and compassionately address my symptoms. As someone recently clinically diagnosed with endometriosis and experiencing worsening gastrointestinal issues, establishing care with Dr. Plafsky feels pivotal on the road to finding answers and healing my body. I left my first appointment with ordered tests, referral to a dietitian, and a protocol to support bowel issues while I await endometriosis excision surgery. I was so grateful to find a GI specialist who actually listened to me and gave me multiple different options for the severe acid reflux I have been experiencing. I had came from Sharp and the doctor there was very dismissive and wouldn’t listen to me that the medication wasn’t working.
