About Dr. Alex Clavijo

Alex Clavijo, MD, is a practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist in the Clearwater area. After growing up in suburban Atlanta, he moved to New York City to attend undergraduate at NYU, where he studied anthropology and chemistry. He attended the University of Virginia for medical school and then moved out west to El Paso, Texas to complete his residency in OB/GYN. During training, he led projects to decrease blood loss during delivery, learned patience for labor, and practiced his Spanish. He was an active participant in the Texas American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. His special interests include both low and high-risk pregnancies, ultrasound, abnormal uterine bleeding, and minimally invasive surgery including robotics. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and tuxedo cat, Benny, as well as doing anything outside including biking, running, kayaking, or spending time at the beach. He is so excited to explore the Tampa Bay area! He also loves to cook and make homemade sourdough bread.

I have never had a male GYN, but he was incredible. I will definitely be keeping him as my gynecologist. He was kind, relatable, and make the whole experience comfortable. The staff asked thorough questions and made me feel that they were addressing everything.
THE. GREATEST. DOCTOR. I was initially worried about being seen by a male doctor, but he created such a comfortable environment unlike any other physician I have been to. He listened to every question I had and explained complex health issues in a simplified manner to help me understand what was happening with my body. He was kind and patient and listened to all of my concerns. The appointment wasn’t rushed and the staff was so kind. I really think the world needs more doctors like him :)

My appointment with Dr. Alex Clavijo was a great one. He was friendly, professional, and attentive. He took the time to explain the issues I was having and provided options in addressing these issues. He was patient and open to listening to any questions/comments I had. Unlike other OBGYNs I've had, he didn't immediately dismiss my concerns. He asked questions to better understand my concerns and illustrated a woman's reproductive system/process through drawing a diagram and explaining it in a simplified way. I greatly appreciate his willingness to have a dialog. His thoughts on the next steps to address my issues were clearly articulated as well. Thank you, Dr. Clavijo!
