About Dr. John Lydon
Dr. Lydon is a board-certified ob-gyn physician by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is certified in the da Vinci surgical system and has special professional interest in simulation training for obstetrical emergencies.
Dr. Lydon served as an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology for Uniformed Services University and as an ob-gyn faculty member for the Naval Hospital Jacksonville Family Medicine Residency Program.
Dr. Lydon’s ob-gyn experience includes working at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, where he served as medical director of Labor and Delivery, as chair of the Perinatal Advisory Board, and as head of the Gynecology and Education service lines, where his department won “Best Teaching Department” two years in a row. He also worked as an ob-gyn at U.S. Naval Hospital at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, taking care of deployed servicewomen and family members. Prior to Women’s Care, he most recently worked as an ob-gyn hospitalist at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, including high-risk obstetric care.
Dr. Lydon completed an internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He earned a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and an undergraduate degree from United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He served as an Active-Duty U.S. Navy Special Operations Officer for over a decade prior to his career in medicine.
Dr. Lydon’s professional goal is to give all his patients the highest quality care, just as he would want his family to receive. He is married to his best friend; they have three not-so-little children and a dog who thinks she is the fourth child. Outside of work, he enjoys camping, backyard grilling, and dad-jokes.

Fantastic experience. Waited minimal time in lobby. Doctor came in to the exam room in a prompt and timely manner and listened carefully to what I was saying. Doctor seemed genuinely concerned about my care and treatment. Would recommend!!
