About Dr. Ramesh Chandra
Dr. Chandra is the founder and director of Center for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Inc. He has been practicing Orthopaedic Surgery in the Washington DC Metropolitan area since 1984, with a special interest in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, ankle, and elbow, including major reconstructive surgery for a wide variety of athletic injuries.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Secunderabad. He completed his residency and fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Chandra is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also among the first orthopaedic surgeons to receive subspecialty board certification in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine from the same board. He served two terms as Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at HCA Reston Hospital from 1996 to 1999.
His goal is to provide state-of-the-art orthopaedic and sports medicine care for every patient. He educates all his patients about their condition and encourages them to actively participate in the decision-making process regarding their care. He is fully involved in the rehabilitation of his patients and oversees his physical therapy team.
Dr. Chandra frequently attends national and international meetings relevant to his practice to present cases and stay current with the latest developments. He has lectured on knee and shoulder reconstruction and arthroscopic surgery at national seminars. Since 1984, he has also served as the team physician for McLean High School.
An avid skier and tennis enthusiast, Dr. Chandra also holds a private pilot license with an instrument rating and enjoys flying recreationally.

Doctor is good, but quite talkative. Especially life to talk about your work, your background, things not related to your injury. May be you will feel kind, but sometimes you also feel not necessary.

Dr Chandra was really nice and did a great job explaining ing my injury to me as well as what would need to be done to fix it. Overall the office was great everyone was friends and the front desk staff was able to get me an MRI and follow up appointment in the next 3 days.

I was in pain, my shoulder felt like dislocated or torn. Doctor recommended medication and explained what was wrong. Clearly gave me a time of how long my recovery would take. I was very impressed of his experience knowing how long. And following the next steps if, I didn’t recovered quickly. This is day 2 of my Recovery and I know have movement on my arm and 50% of the pain gone. Thank you!!!!!!!! Feels so much better, but still little pain. Oh, I was also a walk in.
