Dr. William H. Cooper, Jr MD, FACOG

Dr. Cooper was indeed very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. I did feel slightly rushed and had to interrupt a bit in order to ask questions, but I am comfortable doing that. I probably would have shared more information if asked, and I found it a little odd that I was never asked any questions about my sexual history. Maybe that is not standard at every OBGYN. Overall, I feel I received good care and advice. He and the receptionist were both friendly and welcoming. I gave three stars instead of five because of my nurse, who had some strange/unprofessional behavior. When she took me to the bathroom, she led me out of the exam room, past the private, open bathroom, out of the waiting area, and into the hallway of the building to use a public bathroom. Why? If the doctor's office bathroom was broken, that would have been a nice thing to mention. I was completely baffled. Given that it's such a small practice, I can think of no other reason why I wouldn't be allowed to use their bathroom. Additionally, the same nurse intentionally walked in on me twice while she knew I was changing to get stuff out of some drawers. She knocked but did not wait for a response before entering. She held the door half open while rummaging through drawers and restating instructions about the paper gown while I was literally half-dressed. I was probably changing for 2-3 minutes, so it seems like one or both of these intrusions could have waited! FYI- there is a $45 fee at your first appointment, and the office is a bit chilly. So wear socks. :)

Doctor was very friendly, easy going, staff very helpful and nice. The office was actually warm (I've been to too many freezing doctors' offices). Great experience.

He and his staff were fantastic! Though I think I will block out a little extra time in the waiting room next time or book earlier.

I was nervous about trying a new doctor, but Dr. Cooper made all my nerves desipate immediately. Everyone one from the receptionist to the nurse to Dr. Cooper himself. I knew I was in good hands right away. I'd recommend him and the DC office to anyone.

My experience with Dr. Cooper was very pleasant. He is very friendly and his staff is very nice and personable. My only complaint is that I have to come in twice a year for pelvic exams to get birth control, when most current literature says that I only need a pap every 1-3 years. It seems excessive.

Seems like a respectable guy. Super friendly! Charges an admin fee of $40 to all patients yearly and blames it on the cost of government regulations; I've never seen this anywhere else though. I decided to go along with it since I didn't find out until I was already in the office. Didn't make it to the exam stage though because he doesn't offer iuds to women who haven't had children yet due to risk of infertility. Failed experience on my part but he might be really great if you're looking for something / someone more traditional.

This was the most refreshing doctor's visit I've ever had. Everyone was incredible from the time I walked in until I left. Dr. Cooper is so respectful and really made me feel like I was his only patient there. I couldn't say enough good things about a visit that I typically dread.

As always, it was pleasant, informative, thorough and quick!

William Cooper is extremly professional- very gentle- one of the best OBGYN's I've ever had- and I've had several as I have moved around a bit. I love and highly reccomend him!!!!

I thought the staff was very Warm and friendly. However, I think it is silly that they make you pay a yearly "administrative" fee

Dr. Cooper's makes you feel like he is your very best friend his pleasant and professiona attitude are great assets.

Dr. Cooper is amazing. I know all ladies hate going for their "yearly" checkup but he makes it easy and comfortable. He defines the term bedside manner and his kind personality take all your worries away, so if you are in need of a new OBGYN, don't look any further, Dr. Cooper is your guy!

Dr. Cooper was friendly and easy to talk to, and at the same time very efficient! Both the office receptionist and Dr. Cooper's assistant were also both absolutely great. A very good experience overall.

The staff was welcoming and reassuring. The office atmosphere was warm and comforting. Dr. Cooper was cheerful and explained everything during the exam - talked about my history. He did not rush me and encouraged me to ask questions.

Great first time visit. The doctor is very prompt. His staff is very friendly and professional. I really appreciated that he took the time to talk to me before and after the exam. I never felt like he was rushing to get to his next patient. I felt welcomed and important the entire visit. I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

I dont normally go for male OB-gyn but Dr. Cooper was fabulous. He put me at ease and has lovely staff.

Dr. Cooper was wonderful. He is extremely professional and his staff is very kind. I espicially appreciate the fact that he took the time to talk to me in his office BEFORE the actual appointment. He answered any questions that I had and acyually took the time to listen to my concerns which is more than I can say about most doctors. I didn't have to wait very long, even with being a new patient. The ONLY reason I didn't give Dr. Cooper's practice 5 stars is because, I have NEVER heard of a practice that charges patients a $40.00 annual fee for "general purposes". Also, I would have appreciated very much to have knowledege of said fee BEFORE the appointment, as I would have probably decided to make my appointment elsewhere. However, Dr. Cooper is a wonderful doctor. Who know's, maybe that's their gimmick. *shrugs*

Great doctor and comfortable experience

I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. This was my first visit with Dr. Cooper Jr. and he made me feel like we've been friends for years. His attitude toward his work is excellent, and he was eager to answer all my questions thoroughly! Highly recommend him to any new patients or women who are looking for a doctor change!

Dr. Cooper is a great doctor who is very professional. He made me feel comfortable in a very uncomfortable situation. His staff are excellent and very friendly as well!

Dr. Cooper is great, but I think I would visit his other practice, rather than the one in DC. All lab work is sent offsite, which causes a few days of delay and (in my case) problems with insurance. My previous gynecological offices also had small pharmacies in-office, so if you had a run-of-the-mill yeast infection or UTI you were able to start treatment right away. Dr. Cooper has fantastic bed-side manor, but the office in DC could definitely use some updating... to the point that I would consider going elsewhere.

He understands that some women might be nervous to see a male gynecologist, but is super good at making you feel relaxed. He's pretty funny and still gives extremely good advice.

Wait time was only 10minutes. It was a good experience. Will definitely go back.

Dr. Cooper was extremely helpful and thorough - my records had not yet arrived from my previous doctor, so he introduced himself to me in his office and discussed my general history before the exam. Very professional and friendly during the exam, and said that he would follow up in a couple weeks. The other staff were also very nice.

His manner was very professional but warm, and reassuring. I definitely felt well taken care of, and would want to continue with him as my physician.

About as good as a GYN exam can go. I'd definitely go back to Dr. Cooper.

I cant say enough...as ladies the last thing we want to do is go for our annual. Well we know it needs to be done, so why not go to the most kind, efficient and great natured office in the DC area?

I had a great experience going to Dr. Cooper for a regular annual exam. I did not have to wait a long time to see him, and the exam was quick and painless.

I was VERY impressed with Dr. Cooper! I have never before had a doctor who invited me into his office, introduced himself and spoke to me about any questions or concerns that I wanted him to address during the examination BEFORE the examination! Just the sheer fact that he made time to talk to me blew my mind! I am used to doctors who barely slow down long enough to realize that you are saying you have a question. He is friendly, efficient, knowledgable, caring and takes time for his patients!

Great experience. Everyone is so friendly and nice and Dr. Cooper is really easy to talk to, definitely an accessible doctor. I was in and out of their office in less than an hour and I was a new patient! Takes time to talk before the exam and afterward. Would absolutely recommend him and the Chevy Chase office staff.

Dr. Cooper is great. Usually I hate going to the doctor but he really listened to what the problem was and wants to look for the cause rather than just throwing medication at the problem. He put me at ease and took time to talk with me both before and after the exam. I highly recommend this doctor.

To say it was a pleasure to go the OB/GYN is unbelievable; but that is exactly what it was. From the reception I received as I walked in to the kind nurse who took me back and Dr.Cooper....well, he is the best I have ever experienced!
