How do I search with the AI Care Assistant?

AI Care Assistant makes it easy to find the right doctor for your needs and book with peace of mind.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Describe what you’re looking for in your own words. You can include a health condition, symptoms, a procedure, or the type of doctor you’re looking for. You can also search for a doctor’s name.

  2. Include the location where you want to see a doctor. You can also select your location below the search box.

  3. To find an in-network doctor, you can mention your insurance in your description or use the insurance selector below the search box. Read more about how to search by insurance on Zocdoc.

  4. After you hit “Enter,” AI Care Assistant may ask follow-up questions to clarify your search. Based on your description and answers, you’ll then see search results that are relevant to your needs.

On the search results page, you can continue refining your results by chatting with AI Care Assistant, or you can use filters at the top of the page to narrow results by appointment time, specialty, gender, visit type, and more.

I’m not sure what kind of doctor to see or how best to describe my care needs. What should I do?

It’s okay if you don’t know the exact medical terminology. Just describe your health concern, symptoms, or reason for needing a doctor in your own words.

After you describe what you’re looking for, AI Care Assistant can help guide you through your search so you can better understand your care options and decide what type of doctor or specialist may be right for you. Answering these follow-up questions can help clarify the reason for your visit and ensure you see search results with doctors who can address your care needs.

How does Zocdoc determine the order of the providers that I see in search results?

The more details you share with AI Care Assistant, the more accurately we can show you providers who fit the bill. We consider factors like:

  • Visit reason: Doctors appear based on their ability to address your specific care needs. For example, if you mention “heartburn,” you’ll see doctors qualified to treat that condition.

  • Insurance network: Doctors that accept your insurance plan will appear earlier in search results and are clearly labeled as in-network providers.

  • Location: You can use a map to adjust results based on your preferred location. We take into account the proximity of both patient and doctor locations.

  • Appointment availability: Availability is an important factor in search results, since patients often prefer timely appointments.

The higher a provider appears in the search results, the more closely they align with your care needs and preferences.

Please note that participating doctors who pay for our advertising product are always listed at the top of relevant search results. These advertisements are clearly marked as ”Sponsored,” so patients can easily recognize these as advertisements.
