About Dr. Lucy Schulson
Lucy Schulson is an associate physician policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. She is also an assistant professor of medicine at Boston University and a practicing board-certified internist at Boston Medical Center with a clinical focus on primary care for immigrant populations. Her research is focused on how health systems can be improved to address gaps in quality of care and patient safety for vulnerable populations. She has conducted studies using large survey data, state-based billing data, and hospital-based administrative data. She has additional experience conducting qualitative research and systematic reviews. Her work has led to peer-reviewed publications and oral presentations at national conferences, and she was a finalist for the prestigious Lipkin award at the Society of General Internal Medicine Annual meeting.
Schulson earned her B.A. in international development at Brown University and medical degree at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where she graduated with Honors in Research and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. She obtained a Master of Public Heath in health policy and management at the Harvard School of Public Health and completed her internal medicine and primary care residency at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School. She completed a clinical research fellowship at the Boston University School of Medicine where she conducted health disparities research with a particular focus on patients with limited English proficiency (LEP) and pursued advanced coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics at Boston University School of Public Health.
