About Dr. Benjamin Mayo
Dr. Benjamin Mayo is an accomplished orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic Surgery.
He has experience treating various pain disorders and injuries including ACL & Meniscus Injuries, Anterior Knee Pain, Hip Labrum Tear/FAI, Rotator Cuff Tears, Shoulder Arthritis, and Shoulder Instability & Labral Tears
Dr. Mayo started his medical journey by acquiring Undergraduate from St. Olaf College, completed both his Medical Degree and his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Illinois, and his Sports Medicine Fellowship at University of Connecticut.
During orthopedic conditions, he explains their situation and creates individualized treatment plans to help them recover, restore their physical function, and meet other goals.

I can’t fully evaluate the provider yet, as the appointment was conducted by his team and I didn't get to meet the doctor. I was informed that the MRI office would reach out to schedule the imaging, but I have not been contacted so far. The PAs I met with were professional, well informed, and kind.

I wouldn’t go back. Very short with the visit and not enough detail. He asked if my son was back playing when the first visit we communicated that he was resting the injury. His follow up took all of two minutes and wasn’t thorough at all. So no I wouldn’t recommend him. There’s a reason his appointment book was completely open for the day. I should’ve put 2 and 2 together.

This Dr. Mayo did not listen to my real knee problem and did not want to listen and I was the one who recommended the medication and he said do you want it ??? I said what do you think then he said yes will write it for you. Come and see me after 10 days $$$& I will never come to this doctor again. However I have good experience with other doctors in the same center

The office is very efficient. I was taken in for x-rays right on time. Very thorough x-rays of knee and hip. All staff were professional and helpful. Dr. Mayo actually spent some time explaining the x-rays and options on how to continue forward. The medication he prescribed was available right in the office pharmacy which saved me a trip to my pharmacy. Overall, a very impressive orthopedic facility.

For me, being the first time, the personnel were fantastic. The timing was spot on. If I had to make a comment, I would say for the doctor to slow down just a bit. I have a medical professional in my house, so I understood everything that was being said. However, most do not have that luxury. If I could I would rate the experience a 10+ I was very happy with all of it.

Dr. Mayo was great! The front desk staff were non empathetic robots. I received a call an hour before my appointment and was told I needed to bring in my x-rays from my urgent care visit. I felt like the office should have called the Urgent Care facility and had them email the x-rays to them since I'm hopping around on a freshly broken ankle in tremendous pain. At check in the front desk receptionists saw me standing on crushes while she finished with a patient before me, instead of telling me when I arrived to go to the text window, she waited until she was done and acted like she didn't want to wait on me and rudely instructed that "you can go to the next window". This was a very raw front impression for me being a first time patient. Luckily, everyone beyond the front desk were very nice and helpful because I was really questioning if I would return for my follow up care.

Dr. Mayo is excellent, and after seeing four other orthopedists, he was the one who identified my issue.
