Dr. Charles P. Kimmelman is a board certified Otolaryngologist (Surgeon for the Ear, Nose, Throat and related structures of the Head and Neck) in full time medical practice, teaching and research for over 24 years. His clinical work includes snoring and sleep apnea treatments, smell and taste problems, nose and sinus surgery, hearing and balance and voice disorders. He is Chief of Smell and Taste Disorders at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital-Lenox Hill Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor at Cornell University’s Weill Medical College. He was a charter member of the first Smell and Taste Research Center funded by the National Institutes of Health while on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania and has served as Departmental Chairman at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and New York Medical College.
Dr. Kimmelman has authored over one hundred scientific publications and books. He has been honored by the American Academy of Otolaryngology for his educational contributions to the field and is cited as one of New York City’s “Best Doctors” by both New York Magazine and The Castle-Connolly Guide to Best Doctors. In conjunction with the Genzyme Biosurgery Division of Genzyme Corporation he conceptualized, tested and launched the innovative product, Sepragel Sinus, which aids healing and reduces scarring after ear, nose and throat operations. Sepragel Sinus can diminish the failure rate of sinus surgery and reduce the need for repeat operations.
After graduation with honors from Temple University School of Medicine Dr. Kimmelman completed post-graduate medical training at the University of Pennsylvania and earned a masters degree in business administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a fellow of many prestigious professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology, the Triological Society and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
