Dr. Nancy Lau MD

I can't say enough great things about Nancy! She was incredibly thorough and thoughtful, she explains everything and even writes it all down for you to take home. I never felt rushed, and felt 100% comfortable with her. Easily one of the best doctors I've ever seen!!!

The practitioner was very thorough and clearly has done this many times before and is comfortable dealing with many different issues and possible outcomes.

I felt very comfortable with Nancy Lau. I was nervous about my appointment but she took the time to explain everything in detail. She even drew a diagram on a piece of paper which was helpful. She wasn't rushed and the office was nice and I was seen relatively quickly.

Hands down the best doctor I've ever seen. We sat in her office and went over all my symptoms. She listened and asked questions as she typed notes of what I was telling her; it was not rushed at all. We went in the examination room and later set a course of action for treatment. I really like that she went over some home remedies that can alleviate my discomfort while I get some tests done. She wrote down several key points and was very thorough. I highly recommend Dr. Lau!

Dr Lau is patience, pleasant, professional and took the time to explain everything and listened to my questions and concerns. The staff was friendly and all together, it was a much more pleasant visit than I would have expected.

Dr. Lau was an attentive listener and walked me through her reasoning for the course of treatment with detail around what to expect based on different treatment options. It was night and day from my other GI doctor.

The wait was a little long, but this doctor is excellent. She listens intently and details every option for diagnosis and treatment very well.

Colonoscopy procedure. The doctor was very informative and friendly during the initial consultation and the staff was excellent throughout. Highly recommended.

As other commenters said, the doctor spent a good amount of time with me, which was highly appreciated. However, the wait time in the office was too long.

I absolutely loved her! She was incredibly thorough and oh so professional! I had a rather delicate issue and was nervous going in, but she made me very comfortable and I walked away feeling well taken care of. She made diet recommendation and carefully went over treatment options.

She was very pleasant and thorough when it came to taking down my symptoms and medical history and doing the examination. The only reason I didn't give her five stars is that more tests are required so I can't comment on her diagnostic or treatment ability.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Lau. I didn't feel rushed at all and she was very neat, patient and professional. You can tell she really loves her job and is very good at it. She's nice too.

Dr. Lau took all the time I needed to really explain things to me and discuss all the options. She made me feel comfortable in a situation I was kind of dreading. She was great! The front desk, however, was very strange. There was never anyone there. Very large waiting room, large front desk with several work stations, but a total ghost town. I arrived ten minutes early, but the first sign of life didn't come until twenty minutes later when someone walked out from the back and called my name. From then on, things were normal. That was just very odd.

Dr. Lau takes time to explain everything and ask you many questions. She is gracious and very professional.

She was very informative and gave me all possible options. Unlike other doctors she did not speak down to me and always took her time. There was a bit of a wait but that is to be expected since she truly cares about each patient and does not rush.

Dr. Lau was great, she made me feel very comfortable for a rather uncomfortable subject. She was very thorough and listened to all my concerns. The only slight issue was I had a 8:30AM apt and got there at 8:25 and had to wait till like 8:35 for the assistant to come in.

Dr. Lau was great! My appt was at 4. I was in a patient room right away. After I finished the paper work the appt began in less than 5 minutes. She took a very detailed history asking questions other GI’s have neglected, did a physical examination, and took my issues seriously. My last GI told me my issues were related to anxiety and just brushed me off but when antibiotics I took for something else helped lessen my pain and symptoms I decided there must be a real issue here. Dr. Lau agreed and ordered blood tests to rule out other issues I have had in the past, and scheduled me for an Endoscopy. In the mean time she gave me instructions of how to eat and drink to lessen discomfort until the tests are completed which I must say has help. She is great!! I am completely happy.

Highly recommend -- I was extremely impressed with her explanations. She literally mapped everything out for me on a piece of paper and made me feel like I was dealing with someone who really knew what she was talking about.

The wait time was terrible. It took about an hour before I was actually seen. However, Dr. Lau was great! Very informative and took her time at both asking and answering my questions which is a rare find. I didn't feel rushed at all. Hopefully, I will have better luck on the wait the next time around. Will definitely be going back again and would recommend.

She is so kind and helpful! She patiently went through basically everything that was on her mind about my ailments and was very thorough. I felt very taken care of.

Dr. Lau was very flexible about seeing me late on a Friday night to accomodate my schedule. She's very thourough in terms of taking medical history and explaining her recommendations - however, her bedside manner is just a little bit cold.

Dr. Lau took her time with me and answered all of my questions in great detail. She was easy to get along with and was very thorough--I felt like I was being well taken care of, and I would definitely recommend her. Only thing--wouldn't advise going if you're in a rush as I had to wait for about an hour. I think it was worth the wait, though.

Dr Lau is very professional, thorough and reassuring. She was careful not to prescribe me too many medications or do too many procedures, which I appreciated. The only thing I had a problem with was the wait time at her office. I usually waited for at least half an hour but once I waited for over an hour and neither Dr Lau nor her assistant provided any kind of explanation or apology.

Waited for 30 minutes for her assistant Joanne to come out and see me, despite the receptionist having called her as soon as I arrived. Took another 40 minutes for the doctor to see me. Doctor is fine, but they should something about schedules.

Dr Lau was super nice - she reviewed my situation and symptoms thoroughly, then outlined exactly what additional diagnostic steps she thought we should take and what her reasons were for suggesting them. I felt that my concerns were taken seriously, that I was treated with dignity and compassion and that she went out of her way to explain everything clearly to me.

EXCELLENT! She was thorough, professional, kind, and patient. She took a formal history before taking me to the exam room, took time to explain the process of the exam, and in her recommendation afterward took the non-invasive route and explained her prescription in detail. She even got on Google to search for a particular kind of pharmacy for me, and called two places to make sure they'd have what I needed. Her assistant was also kind and I was seen promptly. I DEFINITELY recommend Dr. Lau!

Here's the deal. I came back from France with this stomach issue that was new to me. I had an appointment with my primary care doc for Friday (today) but he called to cancel saying he couldn't see me until Monday. I was bummed and scared about going through the weekend not knowing what was going on. I found ZocDoc by doing a search for gastro-enterologists in NYC and remarkable found that there was a Dr Nancy Lau with available time to see me today (Friday). I researched her and came away pleased. The office visit was great. She's knowledgeable and communicative with information and responds to questions thoroughly. She set me up for an endoscopy for next week and talked (after taking a look at me) about what I can do to help myself in the meantime. Glad I found her and I have no idea how ZocDoc does what they do but they are bookmarked now - I'll tell you that.

I have a follow up visit after she gets the blood work back.

Dr. Lau is incredibly thorough and clear. I never felt rushed and she listened patiently to everything I had to say. Definitely felt comfortable talking to her and felt confident that she had a plan for helping me. I also liked that she wanted to do tests before shoving a prescription at me, which happens a lot.

She was very gentle and clear. She made me feel comfortable and even help me out to find out a phramacy that will sell the medication she recommended.

Glad that I found her. She took time to do a proper physical examination, during which she found thyroid issues which were confirmed by blood test. She also referred me to an excellent endocrinologist for the same issue. She looks at the whole body perspective, and specialist doctors with this attitude are rare in my experience.

Pretty standard, it was just a consultation so the real test will be moving forward with the follow up tests and exams.

Dr. Lau was wonderful! My consultation was the most thorough I have ever had by a doctor in NYC. She listened to my issues and asked many questions to assess my situation. Then she proceeded to draw a diagram of my problem and explain it to me. I felt like I got a free medical crash course! Then she did an actual examination before helping me arrive at a decision for my next step. I will only use her from now on and highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a gastroenteroligist. I must add that she saw me right when I walked in the door. I didn't even make it to the waiting room! Amazing!
