What is Zocdoc's cancellation and no-show policy?

Updated over 2 years ago

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may prevent you from attending your scheduled appointment, but we expect that patients make every effort to uphold their booked appointments.

If your ability to attend your appointment changes, you are responsible for rescheduling or canceling your appointment using your Zocdoc account as soon as possible. A failure to show up for your appointment will be considered a “no-show." If you reschedule, cancel appointments frequently, fail to show up, or violate our community standards, we reserve the right to limit or terminate your use of Zocdoc’s service.

Why?

Last minute-changes limit other patients’ ability to receive the care they need and are very disruptive to providers and their staff.

Scheduling Changes

If you can no longer attend your scheduled appointment, please be courteous and:

  • Reschedule if possible: If you cannot make your appointment, first attempt to reschedule rather than cancel your appointment.

  • Give sufficient notice: If you need to cancel, give as much notice as possible, preferably within 24 hours of booking your appointment. Please do not cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time.

  • Don’t No-Show: No-shows prevent other patients from booking appointments and don't allow providers to maximize their in-office time to serve patients.

As a reminder, always

  • Look for messages from the office or Zocdoc: Sometimes providers will reach out prior to your appointment. Make sure you take or return calls from the provider.

  • Be mindful of typical office hours: Many offices are not open over the weekends. If you book an appointment over the weekend for Monday morning, please make sure that you will be able to make the appointment time.

If you incorrectly received an email that you canceled or did not attend an appointment, please contact service@zocdoc.com.
