Profile options for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

Updated over 2 years ago

As the role of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in healthcare continues to expand, Zocdoc offers various profile options to showcase your APPs’ availability based on your practice preferences. The two profile options available for APPs are:

  1. Resource Profiles (not visible to patients on the public marketplace)
Resource profiles allow you to add your APP’s availability to Zocdoc without displaying them on the public marketplace. These profiles remain hidden from patients and won't show up in search results. Instead, available appointments for your resources are linked in the backend to the profile of another provider who is displayed on the marketplace (i.e., a doctor or primary provider in your practice whom the APP is under supervision of). When patients book an appointment with the doctor whom your resource is linked to, you can delegate the appointment to the resource.

For instance, if you have a 'Dentist' listed on our public marketplace with a linked 'Dental Hygienist' as a resource, and a patient schedules an appointment with the Dentist for a visit reason better suited for a Dental Hygienist (e.g., dental cleaning), our team can collaborate with you to synchronize the Dental Hygienist's availability from their resource profile for all relevant appointments.

APPs with a resource profile are eligible to receive star ratings from patients only (no reviews with comments) and all ratings received will appear on the linked provider’s profile.

  2. Full Profiles (visible to patients on the public marketplace)

Full profiles for your APPs are set up the same way as profiles for your other providers on Zocdoc. APPs with full profiles are displayed on the Zocdoc Marketplace, making them bookable by patients.

However, like resources, the availability of APPs with full profiles can also be associated with another provider in your practice.

Please note that some states may require that you provide additional supervisory agreements required during the onboarding process in order to set up a public profile for an APP.

Which profile option should I choose for my APPs?

Choosing between a resource or full profile for your APPs depends on your goals and practice preferences. Opt for a resource profile if your APPs need doctor supervision or you prefer your main doctors to be highlighted only. Full profiles are ideal if your APPs can accept patients independently, and you want to enhance their presence on Zocdoc.

How can I set up a Resource Profile for my APPs?

You can set up a resource profile the same way you set up a full profile for your other providers. When setting up a new profile, click on Certification and scroll down to the options for Provider Resources.

Select the specialty of the resource you want to add.

Resource profiles require less information to set up, compared with full profiles:
